with the fitness issues of Dembele, Wanyama and now Dier I think you can make the argument that Sissoko has been hugely influential.

I think it would depend on the criteria before choosing the player.

If it’s for ‘most improved’ player, then I think Sissoko wins hands down.

If it’s for being a player that top clubs would pay good money for, then the list would include - Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Son & Toby.

My choice would be Toby as he has been quietly performing his tasks under the radar. He has had to play as RCB and LCB at different times. He has also had to play with different combinations of defensive players around him - Rose, Davies, Verts, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth, Trippier, Aurier & KWP. He is the Mr. Calm in our defence, especially when having to play with so many young and inexperienced players.

Every feckin one of them that has featured thus far. Tis' a collective, and something I'm pretty sure Poch works damn hard to instill.

We've got a lot of players who've missed a lot of playing time through injury or international requirements so it's hard to include those players in a POTS poll at the hallway stage. Out of the players who've been playing regularly I'd probably go for Sissoko. If he'd scored a few goals he'd be grabbing a lot more media attention than he's been getting so far.

To me this is a strange thread. First of all the notion of a semi seasonal best player is strange, there is a reason for why these things are awarded on an annual/seasonal basis, there needs to be some sense of consistency over time. Secondly, just because a player goes from useless to less useless to occasionally quite usable doesn't mean that he should run away with an award, or "award", however informal it is.

IMO, the man at Tottenham Hotspur most deserving of praise at the halfway point is Pochettino himself. He has gotten through transfer disappointments, a rough patch with Levy, stadium postponements and landed the club at 2nd place and firmly in the run for CL spot. He is the only outstanding enough to deserve personal, singular praise at this point. For the players, it really and truly has been a team effort.

The poll is for PLAYER of the season to this point.

Whilst your post has merit, it’s not for this thread my friend.

Sissoko has filled a spot that we were all worried about, and been a dominant force in there. That has allowed others further forward to flourish. Whilst we have other ‘special players’ I think his emergence has been the most influential in terms of knock on effect.

Remember we haven’t played really well all season except United, Chelsea and the last couple. That’s why we went under the radar for so long.

I'd give it to Alderweireld. He's been very good since the start of the season and has had to play alongside at least four other centre backs - can't remember if Dier has started in a back four. Sissoko has been very good the last couple of months, but wasn't that good prior to maybe the Crystal Palace game? A couple of others had good to great small spells of form, but I think Alderweireld has been the most consistent.
