i went for sissoko thinking nobody else would. How wrong was i , i do hate pointing at one player as it's a team game but him plus many others have been amazing. Sissoko though has been great from the start and really important in recent weeks with all the injuries but also being able to play in a mid 2 and 3, he even once played at right back for a bit against barca. He's also been a rock in that midfield and pretty much showed how strong he is in the bournemouth game against Fraser, he caught up with him, muscled him and got the ball back. The commentator said what everyone else thought, he is a man mountain.

He looked like he was gradually getting better midway through last season but has gone up a notch further this season.

Very difficult so far.
Alli is my favourite
always look forward to him playing.
Eriksen and Kane our best at different jobs.
Sissoko but only for the last half of a half season
Vertonghen and Toby very solid.
Son now much more hit than miss.

And the winner is hmm....Eriksen definitely
I think probably.
Very telling how hard it is

Close thing between Eriksen and Son but plumped for the former. A real class act that has elevated himself even further into the world class category this season. The heartbeat of this team and has pulled out some important performances and goals when most needed.
Eriksen is one of our top players and at his best he is compared with the best in the world but.... how can you seriously consider him to player of the season so far? It is only in the last few games that he has been playing any where to the form we know he is capable of. Whether down to fatigue (post wc) lack of confidence whatever, his form has been poor where we only fleetingly saw the true Eriksen. Putting him ahead of the likes of Winks and Sissoko who have both contributed much more shows your bias.

Son, only kicked off after the Chelsea game at the end of October as he too was dire earlier. The player that held us together during this time in lieu of both Eriksen and Son, was Lamela (who has now gone off the boil)

As usual it seems some people are voting for their favourites. I voted Sissoko and he is not one of my favourite players by any stretch of the imagination, but fair is fair and well done to him.

Sissoko just over Toby and Alli. If Son continues his current form he will walk it by the end of the season though.

Went for manbeast, been vital for us, speed and strength, like having an extra player every game as he does the job of two.

He’s only turned up in the past 10 games.

Before then he hadn’t scored in about 9 months and was missing so many chances.

I’m quoting you as I think it’s a shame people have such short memories and overlook players who have put a shift in all season (Toby, Sissoko etc) for players who have only turned it on when winter hit (Eriksen, son).

If Son continues as he is now he will be a strong contender for POTY but turning up for 10 games out of about 26 already played does not make him POTS so far. :woot:

Sissoko was putting in MOM performances earlier in the season when our attacking players were horribly out of form and we were grinding out wins 1 nil.

Harry Kane. When we were struggling for form and performance, Kane was digging away and still getting the goals which was winning us games.

He's a genuine, all round, world class footballer and competitor.

Immense.

I had to vote for Son. Was close between quite a few players, but after missed the first few games, he's been in amazing form scoring important goals and constantly making really smart runs which helps Kane, Alli, etc find more space.

Not Gonna lie though, was hard not to choose Sissoko... He's been immense.

I voted sissoko and wasnt suprised to see him waay out in front. Second choice would have been son.
Sissoko has stood up and been counted when we have needed somebody to most as i applaud him for that. Hes really given us a different dynamic in cm from the usual dier +1 combo. His line splitting runs is the reason for our kick on in form im certain.

1. Toby
2. Sissoko
3. Kane

That being said, with our squad the way it is I think Kane is still the most important in terms of just not really having a clear like for like replacement.

Surprised to see Sissoko lead the poll here. While he's been good of late I don't think he's even close to being our best player first half of the season. He's simply played to the level we should expect from a first team player. For me, that's not enough to win "player of the first half season". He's not even close to being one of the best central midfielders in the league.

He deserves credit for his resurgence and he's been playing really well lately, but I feel we have other players that are much better and that have shown more during the first half of the season. I could see him winning a "most improved player" but that's about it.

To offer up some perspective, Kane and Eriksen have a combined 21 goals and 12 assists (PL + CL) this season. Kane is 1 goal behind PEA in the PL top scorer rankings. Sure Harry hasn't been at his best but he's still the best striker in the league and one every team in the world would love to have. Yet when I'm writing this he has 5 votes (including mine). Only Lucas with fewer votes.

Edit: This may look like a dig at Sissoko but it's not. He's been very good for us so far this season, but I just don't agree with the general consensus here.

Sissoko.... The only player that has genuinely raised their game to another level is Sissoko. Not just a tiny notch but to a level that makes him look like a deserved part of the team. That's coming from someone that pretty much wrote of every tottenham game he started as a defeat.

I would say Alderweireld for holding together our defence so often this season, but I fear he'll break my heart in the next seven months or so... so I'm getting ahead and saying Sissoko.

HM to Alli.

Also Gazzaniga. He's been faultless every time he's played.

So hard to choose as there have been so many exceptional performers. Poch has done it again doing with Sissoko what he did with Dier, in necessity finding a midfield player. Sissoko has done very well.

Verts before his injury kept us together, then Toby got back in and fit and has been his impeccable self. Hugo of course saves us time and time again. Son is currently the star of the team lifting the tempo we play it, giving us pace and energy; on top of which his finishing is of the highest class with either foot. Dele has begun to reach another level after a slightly quieter year last season. He is becoming a top player as he has always threatened to do.

Yet Eriksen and Kane are, in different ways, the heart of the team. Eriksen is showing himself as a formidable playmaker with a versatility few can match. A for Harry he is getting better and better. Kane today is a real leader on the pitch able to adjust his role and position to suit the needs of a game, of course the versatility we have up front enables him. Some think he has gone off the boil with his goalscoring but I think he is making better decisions on the pitch for the benefit of the team.

i could go on all through the side with this feeling that few players have not made real improvements this season.

So still not sure if it is Kane, Eriksen, Sonny, Dele or Hugo. Maybe I will decide tomorrow

Another here for Sissoko. What a player and what a turn around for the geeza. Son a very close second.

Lamela was ultra productive for the first 3 months until his injury and should not be forgotten how he carried the team at points

Ultimately though it must be the Sissoko beast

Sissoko for me as he has not only turned things around but has surpassed what Dembele would have contributed.
He's been more mobile and added a direct element into that role that's caused problems in the opposition box that Dembele rarely does.
