Interested to see who we think has been our best player so far this season. I think there's a few clear contenders:

1. Kane - The Phenom. 30 goals in 30 starts. Current top goal scorer in the Premier League, and joint second in the Champions League. His all round play looks to have progressed even further this year too.

2. Son - The Spark. 12 goals in 24 starts. Set a joint club record by scoring in 5 consecutive home games. So often he has been the man to lift us. He has been pure entertainment this year, with a buzz going round Wembley whenever he gets the ball in many games (it's been bale like at times in that sense imo).

3. Vertonghen - The General. How good has Jan been this year?! I mean seriously?! He seems to be getting better with age. I can't remember a mistake from him. He's just so composed at all times, in both his defensive work and in the way he plays it out. In general he's been a joy to watch.

4. Eriksen - The Creator. 8 goals and 7 assists in 28 starts. We dearly miss him when he's out. Invariably whenever we put in a top performance Eriksen is absolutely everywhere. The man who makes us tick and links everything.

Maybe Eriksen but probably Kane...the guy is just a machine, a world class machine.

Really it's Kane, but because no one will ever get near his achievements, we can't give it to him every year, and it's good to shine a light on players who don't get the praise they deserve, I'd say Vertonghen. The guy for me has been head and shoulders the best CB in this league for the last two years, yet he never gets talked about in those terms. As good as Toby is, Jan has been on another level over the past two years. Absolute Rolls Royce of a player.

All 3 have been excellent, but Kane for me. If we lost Son or Vertonghen, it'd be a huge loss but if we lost Harry, we're little to no chance of finishing top 4 in the coming seasons ...

I've added in Eriksen now. Think he deserves to be on the shortlist in retrospect. He was unreal again last night.

Personally, I voted for Kane, 30 goals already is just crazy. He has the hardest job in the game and makes it look so easy.

Verts hasn't had a bad game all season and has often been our best player. Playing alongside a raw 21 year old too.

Love Kane for obvious reasons, but I've opted for Verts.

He's been immense, in what has been an ever changing back line this season. He's been the glue to hold it all together.

The only reason Kane is not winning this poll is because we are simply so used to his excellence, Verts is clearly second. Eriksen has played well recently but has had poor patches. Son is a star, and would be much higher rated if he didn't happen to be in a team with such excellent attacking players.

It’s Kane followed by Vertonghen 2 world class players

Son is a great spark and we look lost without Eriksen that is true but neither are near the consistency of Kane and Verts

In a season with as many back line changes and formation changes back there as we’ve had, there has been 1 constant who holds it all together and has our goals against record still in great shape. Jan Vertonghen. The best CB in the league and one of the best in Europe. Eriksen and Kane are equally crucial to us but Vertonghen hasnt had one even average game whereas they have fluctuated a bit. Verts has been one of our best players every game he has played and often has been the best. So he gets it for me.

My opinion may not go down well with some fans here but I’m going to post it anyway.

We have a great first eleven as well as a few others from the bench although we still need strengthening on adequate cover for Kane & Eriksen.

As a team, we have not reached our ceiling yet.

Kane and Son have been (more than) superb but I’d wish that they’d be less greedy/selfish when another team mate is in a better position to make an attempt at goal.

Based on our matches so far this season, I think that we could have scored more goals (some of which may have changed the end result of some of those matches), if our attacking players had been more willing on passing the ball to another team mate (who was in a better position) instead of trying to attempt a shot at goal from a difficult angle.

Pls don’t be misunderstood that this post is something negative against our players. I’m just trying to say, IMO, that there’s room for us to improve our results and that we have not reached our zenith yet.

Note - I’ve had a few beers so my post may not be written or construed as what I may have intended it to be. :(

I’m not even sure whether my post is relevant to this thread but its already a few hours past midnight over here now and my thoughts may be a bit fuddled.

Kane is probably player of the season in the whole Prem. I have sympathy for his teammates, but it’s not unfair to choose your actual best player as player of the season. And there’s no shame in second place to a phenomenon.

Got to be the player who's played more games than any other Spurs player doesn't it?
