Toby

Son and Winks have been great recently but had a slow start. Kane has been great and would be my runner up. Sissoko most improved.

Special mention to Gazziniga who is knocking at the door for number 1 spot.

But yes Toby, he has been consistently excellent for us all season and has held our defence together throughout an injury ravaged season.

Could've picked a few, but Son, Sissoko, Winks and Toby have been the standouts for me. The first three particularly, in terms of the development in their games.

The two CMs have been heroes! Sissoko's positive transformation in an area of the park where our CMs were falling like skittles, and he's held the fort. Winks after getting over a long-term injury and complicated recovery. He's had a tough remit, and unfairly criticized sometimes, but shown improvement both defensively and in attack.

Have to give it to Sonny though, even before his latest heroics. His hold-up game's improved. First touch and control is more secure; physically stronger; has more direct intent, threat and variability to his game. His link up play is better, and most importantly...he scores!

He's run himself into the ground for us, just like Kane and Alli have, but luckily avoided the injuries they have; and he's just been so critical in getting us points this season with goals that were hard to find elsewhere.

The funny thing is a lot of people talk of Eriksen being world class, but it's clear to me unless he finds way more to show consistency he will never be in that bracket.

I think the fact no one has said Eirksen for Player of the Season reiterates this, he's been our 3rd best AM this year behind Dele and Son. Don't get me wrong i'm a big fan and think he can be a great player but only 50% of the time for all his great passes, half of them are woeful, you compare this to the magic that Modric had in his feet and i'm sorry he's never going to get to his level, the guy literally never gave the ball away and performed to the highest level from the age of 25 plus on. But maybe i'm being harsh as their aren't many if any Modrics out there (Bernado Silva is someone i put in his bracket). I do, however, think people think Erisksen is too important to us because 50% of the time he goes missing and we don't lose 50% of our games.

I was tough on Son this year and i think using him as high up the pitch as possible suits everything about him, his direct nature, quick feet and ability on both sides is wasted picking the ball up near the half way line and this year he is way higher up the pitch where he should be and has been pretty devastating.

I think the 4 candidates have to be Son, Toby, Kane and Sissoko for obvious reasons. Verts would have been a shout without the injury.

You keep this cluster of players, add in a magnificent CM and two flying full backs if Rose is done and boom. That's a team.

This.

Eriksen shows glimpses of what he's capable of but they're far too infrequent for him to be considered world class. We've had some special players in the last 20 years eg Bale, Modric and Berbatov, imo Eriksen has nowhere near the effect they had.

I have a theory and could be a million miles away, that his heart was set on Madrid but they've essentially passed him over. That's great news for Spurs as I'd like to keep him but of our attacking midfielders Son and Alli are ahead of him every time.

My player of the season so far is Son.

Son is the obvious one.

I also think Rose is playing himself into contention based on recent form.

Didn't we do this in December? Are we announcing player of the season every two months? If so, player of the season for January was Son, I think.

I think it was AS or Marca were saying that they relaxed interest due to the fee Levy wanted. Its going to come down to how much they really want him and I'm not sure they will be prepared to pay 80m + for a player who, whilst exceptional, plays on the periphery too often. Then it depends how Eriksen responds to that. Does he force it and become a bad apple? Or does he just run his contract down?

Son did start slowly. Toby and Sissoko have been consistently very good all season, Closely followed by rose and winks.

Kane has scored lots and lots.
