@Bus-Conductor spot on with Aurrier regarding him being Walker 2 years ago. Thought he would be better then that for us. For me Trippier is our clear no1
I’m really not getting the Rose good reviews.I think he looks a shadow of the player he was and currently a million miles behind Davies.Yes I know he’s been out a long time,so I’m prepared to give him a chance. But he certainly doesn’t look a £60m player to me right now.
He’s been out almost a year and looks much much heavier than when we last saw him
Could take months before we see the best of him (which was fantastic) again or it could even be next season after a good pre season....
The old ratings thread chestnut , that ratings would be wildly different if luck had tweaked slightly differently , can surely have rarely been so evident as here .
We beat the bottom club in the Prem basically on a coin flip . MOTM for most , because the Palace attacker missed a completely open goal , made a horrendous error in coming out for a ball he couldn't reach .Zaha puts that in and the full weight of ratings thread criticism would have crashed over him .
The mad luck of that miss and he's MOTM on here !
If our target is genuinely the Prem title , there is little in this match to suggest we have any chance imo .
The contentment in here seems entirely unfounded to me and is based on the tiniest twist of good luck .
Gazzaniga made a couple of excellent saves but you can’t ignore his error that should have seen us go a goal down, he also was lucky not to give away a pen early on. Can’t get MOTM IMO.
Re Aurier, it wasn’t just that he gave the ball away for Zaha’s chance when he rounded the keeper but he also just stops chasing Zaha too. Poor bit of play all round.

Trippier is better going forward I agree. Defensively imo Trippier doesn't posses good enough recovery or defensive positioning. Its still a toss up between them and it's regarding the opposition who best to play overall personally I'm still leaning towards Aurier.@Bus-Conductor spot on with Aurrier regarding him being Walker 2 years ago. On the contrary, grinding out a 1-0 win with a threadbare squad due to injuries and knackered from a massive effort beating the current champions league holders is exactly what title challengers do.
Did you miss the Swansea and Burnley games?I don't agree . The point is that this was won on a flip of the coin i.e. could have just as easily gone the other way .50-50
Palace are at the bottom , we can't have matches as close as Palace because we'll lose some of them as we labour against packed defences and winning titles is not about dropping points to teams near the base of the table , especially at home .
You are not giving sufficient weight to the importance pure luck plays in things imo and certainly in the 50-50 Palace game .
It was not encouraging re Prem title for me .

But in the system we play, with 3CB's (two of them pretty quick too) and the way way play, i.e. dominating possession most weeks, Trippier's speed of recovery isn't as detrimental as Aurier's ability to deliver incisive passes into their box.
As we saw against two of the best/quickest counter attacks, RM and Liverpool, Trippier's offensive ability gained us more than his defensive inabilities cost us.
This is why, as much as I acknowledged Aurier does have decent qualities, is a decent RB, I would happily have spent the next year or two developing KWP than working on Aurier's flaws.
