I dont think any of us doubted Sig's ability but we all know that he just didn't fit the system we were playing. I can remember a number of times that he played in the role for us that he is now doing so well in for Swans and he was nowhere near as effective in a spurs shirt.

The comparison is also a tricky one cos Eriksen hasn't really had the chance to show his playmaking abilities having been stuck on the left a lot and yet he's contributed just as much by scoring goals and winning us games as Sig has for Swans in terms of assists. Also, our strikers haven't be nearly as effective at finishing chances that Eriksen has no doubt provided compared with Bony for Swans so that plays a huge part.

I think most people did question Siggys ability though, didn't they?

I have to disagree with your assessment of his performance in his preferred role. When he first came he played ok there, but he didn't fulfill the role in the same way that VDV did and that's what fans got confused with in my opinion.

A few games later we shunted him out wide, and he still performed well imo for a player who lacks any real pace.

We missed a trick with this lad, and our team would have benefited from keeping him around but playing in his number 10 role. Only Cesc has more assists in the Premier League than him.

Eriksen is still the better option in that role imo, but our manager doesn't play him there either so it is a bit of a pointless comparison really.

But that's the Spurs way, we take a number 10 and try to turn then into a number 7 or 11.

Ridiculous.
