Going to be his 2nd time going. He made unofficial team of the tournament last time
That's Jurgen's boy in goal, presumably?
There was some bad blood a few years ago, particularly when he made joking tweets about Landon Donovan being left off the 2014 World Cup squad. Looks like that's blown over now, and he's apparently quite a good keeper.
CCV starting today agains Senegal - currently 1-0 in favor of US.
He did not play in the opening 3-3 draw.
Always like him, but must admit he hasn't looked very mobile when he's stepped up to the pace of first team football. Admittedly he's had very few appearances, so I might be being a bit harsh on the kid.
What are people's thoughts?
I think he has looked fine - for an 18-yo...
He looked good today - really read the game well, and won some key headers.
Watched the first 10 minutes of the game, that's 10 minutes of my life i'll never get back.
Keep us updated.
Nah, I have better things to do. It was shit.
US won 1-0, so a clean sheet for CCV.
Concede three goals without him, clean sheet with him in the team. England played much worse when Onomah was dropped.
Correlation does not imply causation. Football doesn't work like that, not in this case anyway.
Did we fail to win 24 games because Gareth Bale was selected in those games? Definitely not, yet we have 24 pieces of data to say otherwise.
Not even remotely the same.
got sent off in his last game for two of the softest yellow cards you'll ever see -
The replay on the first one doesn't show the context of the perceived foul, but the opponent makes an absolute meal of it. The second one isn't even a foul.
Holy crap that's awful refereeing.
I watched that match, and the refereeing throughout on both sides was amateur-hour. CCV has been excellent for the US in the last two games, and he'll be a big miss in the next round.
Hopefully he will continue to get good opportunities this season and we keep him so he can be long-term successor to Toby.
