Think we're in for a rough summer next year..
I thought we're in for a rough ride next summer the second we brought absolutely nobody in during the transfer window.
I just cannot believe all our top players were ok with that.
Be honest, what would you have thought about it?
I would think 'this is a fkin joke, they've clearly no ambition and I wont win fk all playing here until this stadium is paid for and even then.... I'm off. Short career, blah blah blah.
And even if the players aren't thinking that Id be amazed if their agents arent whispering that in their ear.

Dropping Eriksen would rip our heart out. We were able to survive without Rose, Walker & Toby because we had Davies, Trippier & Davinson to replace them with. I like Lamela but he ain't in the right mould to pull the strings like Christian does. Grealish isn't granted but a year of working alongside the likes of Eriksen would have been huge for hit potential growth
disagree, imo DL wanted to sign grealish because he thought he can get a HG talent for cheap given villa's financial situation

Right now, a son it stands Hazard & Eriksen have 1 year left on their deals next summer as do Grealish &a Sessegnon.

Aside from Hazard (who I think will go to Real anyway), would you as it stands settle for Eriksen leaving if we are able to secure Sessegnon & Grealish that summer for a relatively knock down fee with 1 year left on their deals?

I know Christian is in a class above but as it stands if someone offered that to you would you take it or not? Damage limitation to the possibility or Christian leaving which as it stands, kind of looks like it could become a reality.

I’m expecting Eriksen to leave next summer. We have pretty much always sold at the peak value of a player, and if we’re not winning trophies he’ll want to go anyway at his age (next summer he’ll be 27).

I don’t know who we’ll replace him with, because it’s so difficult to actually ‘replace’ a player as good as that. However, if you consider we’d get anywhere between £80-£150m for him if he were to sign a new contract, then we’d have the funds to get a pretty decent player.

I’d be disappointed if that player was Grealish. The desperation of the transfer window massively inflated opinion of him on here.

There's been no contract news as far as Eriksen is concerned ala Toby so why is everyone whipping themselves into a frenzy?

It’s obvious they are in negotiations and his agent is leaking/making up the other team’s interest. Some people are so wet behind the ears it’s untrue!

His agent did exactly the same thing in the build up to him agreeing his last extension with us.

I fucking knew your posts were thinly veiled poems
I always wondered myself. I couldn’t decide if a very impressive use of poetry to make points which I wasn’t sophisticated enough to understand or posting using a very old phone with a small screen that didn’t line-wrap. ?

In any case - very distinctive posts that always catch my eye. ?

So you genuinely believe that our whole summers worth of activity revolved around getting some kid in because he was cheap and not because Pochettino thought he had the natural talent he could mould like he has so many wearing our shirt? Behave mate Poch wanted Grealish for footballing reasons as well

When you look at no signings this summer you can kind of palm it off with the consistency argument. But it’s the cumulative effect. Not signing at least 1 CM or Kane back up just means it’s another 2 we need next summer. With the very real possibility we could be seeing the departures of Alderweireld vertonghen Rose dembele Hopefully Eriksen won’t be added to that list. But I think our squad come start of 19/20 is going to look very very different to how it looks today.

Vorm, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dembele & Llorente all have contracts expiring next summer & theres serious question marks over Rose, Aurier, Sissoko, Eriksen, Nkoudou, Janssen & Wanyama if he doesn't get his fitness levels up. Not to mention the strong possibility of losing Son for 2 seasons soon if he doesn't get gold this time around.

13 players with issues surrounding them for different reasons, be it military service, contracts expiring, age, fitness concerns or general quality levels to keep up with the rest. The club need to hope they have the best scouting season of their lives since Poch took over. He's going to need it

Replacing Eriksen with Sessegnon and Grealish would be a huge risk. Neither proven in a top tier league. The only time selling Eriksen will ever be acceptable is if 1) He wants to go 2) We get an absolute fuck-tonne of money for him & 3) We immediately invest the majority of it in a ready made replacement. No kids/prospects etc, his role in the team is too important.
Eriksen leaves only if he wants to, there isnt enough money in the world to replace him imo. He's in the same category as Kane.

But if he wants to leave & only has a year left on his deal come next summer, how much do you accept as a minimum should Barcelona or Real Madrid come knocking?

He's not though is he - because in the summer he only has one year left on his contract

I think this is a worry, and the rumours in the summer that he had signed a contract are, frankly, obviously innacurate

I'm expecting a sea of 'disagrees', but why if he had wouldn't the club have announced it? I totally agree with Scat1620

I'd only start listening to offers for Christian at the price Countinho went for. Anything less, Eriksen's prescense in the squad would be worth more than the return.

So you think we'll run the risk of him leaving a year later rather than accepting £70m for him? I think he's such an important player but letting him leave for free when you're trying to pay off a stadium and build a team is crazy. Got to take the money if he wants to move on and reinvest it wisely into the squad IMO.

He's clearly a class act but you can't let him leave on a free transfer
