Liverpool could sign Tottenham star Christian Eriksen but deal hinges on one thing

Now that's ridiculous. What can Liverpool offer him except a bitter **** of a manager and thousands of delusional salted fans.

It's annoying that after the result last night there was a good 15 minutes of pundits selling off our players.

Yet Liverpool don't get that treatment and they've won fack all recently either with a much higher budget.

Even the president of Egypt is selling salah to Madrid but you don't here"can they keep him" after every pool game in this country

Tired of the Liverpool lovin media. Really hope they get europa

Scousers will not get Eriksen ever.

I am not sure where he sits in our pecking order.

Obviously Kane 1st. Then him along with Jan, Toby, Hugo etc.

Netherlands legend Wim Kieft believes that Christian Eriksen has added graft to his game since moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

Eriksen, who joined Spurs from Ajax in 2013, has developed into one of the best players in the Premier League in recent years and has been the creative heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

While Harry Kane has earned the plaudits for banging in the goals, Eriksen has been the creative force around which Pochettino has been building his team.

Kieft has indicated that the Dane always had the creativity in him, but during his time at Ajax, Eriksen was not the hard working player that is in action for Tottenham.

The former Ajax star feels his willingness to put in the hard yards for the team has taken Eriksen’s game to the next level.

Kieft wrote in his column for Dutch daily De Telegraaf: “The non-commitment, which was part of his game at Ajax, has disappeared.

“He has developed into an all-round performer and has become a dominant player at the top level, who plays great, but also does a lot of hard work.”

Eriksen has netted seven goals and provided the same number of assists in 26 Premier League appearances for Tottenham this season.

Before last night he hadn't scored a direct free-kick since Swansea away in October 2015. Given that he's been our main free-kick taker in that entire period and has therefore probably averaged at least one direct shot at goal per game from free-kicks in an almost two and a half year period, that's a truly appalling record that he really should have been called out on.

What a time to break the duck though. Even if he got a bit lucky because you'd have expected one of the best goalkeepers of all time to have saved it, it was still a superb performance overall. That ball that Kane should have scored from was outstanding.

A Gooner mate of mine summed it up best when watching last night. He thinks that Ozil is a better technical player than Eriksen, but the difference between the two is that if Ozil had been playing last night and had seen his team go 2-0 down in the first 9 minutes, his head would have dropped and he'd have spent the rest of the game sulking, moving around at walking pace and seeing his team get badly beaten. Eriksen on the other hand took absolutely no shit, dug in deep and made absolutely damn sure that we fought back against one of the strongest defences on the planet to take a draw and two away goals back to London.

Would like to know how many players have scored feee kicks in that period. I bet its a lot less then people think

Lionel Messi forced Barcelona to REJECT Christian Eriksen to ensure Philippe Coutinho deal
BARCELONA reportedly shelved plans to sign Christian Eriksen and focused all their efforts on bringing in Philippe Coutinho at the request of Lionel Messi.

Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in January for a club record £142million but the deal might not have gone ahead if it was not for Lionel Messi.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Barca were close to throwing in the towel in their pursuit of the Brazil international.

The Catalan side instead turned their attention to Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen and scouted him on numerous occasions.

However, Messi reportedly stepped in and demanded a deal for Coutinho be completed as part of his own contract negotiations.

The Argentina international had Barca held to ransom last year as talks over his new deal dragged on.

And Mundo Deportivo claim the 30-year-old used the situation to his advantage before putting pen to paper on a contract extension in November.

He reportedly told club president Josep Maria Bartomeu he would not sign until a deal for Coutinho was back on track.

And Barca responded by dropping their interest in Eriksen, despite seeing him as a viable and cheaper option to replace the ageing Andres Iniesta.

Eriksen himself was also well aware of the interest from the Nou Camp at the time and admitted it was his dream to one day play for a side like Barcelona.

"I still have a contract with Tottenham for a few more years,” the Denmark international said.

“Barcelona are a great club. I don't think there are many who say no to Barcelona. In the future I see myself at the highest level. That's what I dream about.

"It can be about two to three years. It may be in another club or it could be Tottenham if we have come all the way up."

I suspect the Eriksen quote is from some years ago.

Let me guess, messi and coutinho share the same agent?

What a fucking player. Up there in the second echelon, and pushing close to the first, of Spurs best ever PL players for me. We really should savor ever single match with this guy, he is something special.

I'd put it this way: Kane is our most important player because of his mentality, bravery and leadership, and of course all the goals he scores. Kane is the ideogram of this Spurs team. But from a pure footballing perspective I'd say it's Eriksen. He must be a wet dream for every coach. He can basically play anywhere on the midfield depending on the match situation. Excellent work rates and physique, scores goals, assists and just makes our whole team tick. If Kane is the heart than Eriksen is the brain. Not sure what that makes Sissoko - I'm sure someone has a good suggestion.

Eriksen is world class in my opinion but doesn't really get recognition he deserves. Maybe it's that solemn Scandinavian look that makes him go a bit unnoticed. De Bruyne is ahead of him but other than that I can't see who's better than Eriksen in the PL as an attacking midfielder.

It`s worrying that Eriksens contract expires in 2020. Seeing as Ozils new contract sees him paid in the region of 350k a week, it would be malpractice for Eriksens agent to demand anything less than a weekly wage in excess of 200k.

Would Levy sanction that to anyone bar Kane? He should, but if his agent pushes it, you could imagine a similar scenario to the one that`s being played out with Toby.

Like Toby, Eriksen is good enough to play for any team in the world, and you could envision a few of them looking at his contract situation and realise that he (unlike Kane and Alli) is an expensive but attainable target as early as this summer.

I'm not worried, he'll sign after Kane's contract is sorted, considering he signed for £40k when he first came to the club and re-sugned for £75k when he could have asked for more I doubt he'll be asking anywhere near what Ozil is being paid.
