We don need to spend major money on transfers this summer, obviously a couple of good additions would be welcome, so we should spend our budget on ensuring that key players are not tempted to leave by bigger wages.

I wonder if the deeper role could suit him long term? He's so deadly you wouldn't want to restrict his attacking instincts but imagine putting him further back (alongside Wanyama by way of example) and buying a new, pacey attacking mid - a Mane type of player perhaps?

That would be one hell of an option

IMO he's now our most important player, in that we would miss him most were he not here.

A supreme artist with one of the best work rates in the league - for 10m! Incredible, I love watching him

Depends on the opponent really. Wanyama and Dembele are needed at times, such a beastly midfield.

Our player of the season for me. Now runs game when before was in and out of patches of form

He's now in fabulous form, which makes his performances in the first few months of the season even more strange. He really was struggling to get into games then and looked to be really underperforming. In fact he does tend to start seasons off badly before coming good (although this season he's become exceptional). I don't know what the answer is...maybe give him no time off or preseason!?!?

I personally think it had to do with the long contract negotiations.

Absolutely wonderful talent. I was guilty of giving him a bit of a hard time towards the beginning of the season, but it wasn't so much that I didn't rate him or believe he had this level in him, but because I knew he wasn't playing to his full capability.

Now he has been consistently superb for several months you just cannot deny how beautifully he controls the play and creates or how important he is to how we function.

Yup - that's what I meant re: a good option to have

If we're struggling to break teams down and don't look like being too susceptible to counters, it could be seriously dangerous

Ive always rated eriksen. Makes us tick. Problem is when hes off it generally so are we. Id like us to bring in a more creative player to play alongside wanyama to ease the burden on him.do think winks maybe could be that player. Problem is where then do you play dembele.nice problems to have i guess

Agree, but Winks is certainly not that player yet.

Still think we could do an upgrade on Dembele, which is an unpopular opinion in here.

Dembele has 1 goal 1 assist this season in 28 games (PL). 24 chances created, that's not even 1 pr. game. Compared to Eriksen (i know this is not a player he should be compared to) who has 110.

If we compare him to Pogba, who didn't have a good season or Fabregas - he is waaaay behind.
Yes I know Dembele is doing other things to perfection, but a creative 8-playmaker like Modric or the best players at his position, he will never be.

Dembele is more an hybrid of an 6&8 - which can be fine in a system with a lot of creative players.

Does Dembele's lack of creativity even matter? It's not his role in the team.

Christian, can you say with certainty that you play at Tottenham next season?

- I still have a contract with Tottenham a few more years.

What do you think of the rumors that are running on your football future?

- There are always rumors about footballers.

But you are linked with Barcelona?

- Have I been there at some point (Christian Eriksen try trained in the club at a young age and touched the ball three times in 90 minutes in a match). And it was not very good. Barcelona are a great club and I do not think there are many who say no to Barcelona.

- But there is interest and there is definite interest. Before there is concrete interest, I have no opinion on it, says Christian Eriksen.

Christian Eriksen was both Chelsea and Barcelona as a young talent to try work out before he chose Ajax. The stay at the Spanish club was not successful. He never got the ball, although he tried to find the free positions on the field.

- In the future I see myself at the highest level. That's what I dream about. It can be about two to three years. It may be in another club or it could be Tottenham if we have come all the way up, says Christian Eriksen.

Nothing bad there. If we don't kick on over the next few years I'm sure many of our best will look for other clubs. Its the way it is. He strikes me as a very honest player so I'm sure he will hang around for a bit.

He's exactly what Barcelona need, to be honest. He'd replace Iniesta better than most. I hope he and they don't realise that and he stays though.
