Given that he talks about the lack of signings this window, it’s pretty clear he’s talking specifically about this season.

So what if we sell him next summer? That's between seasons. Would that be forgivable? We presumably would use the money to buy said quality signings. I'm just trying to get a handle on when it would be OK for Eriksen to leave on good terms for everyone.

I think most sane people realise that if he reuses to sign a contract, the way our finances are at the moment, we can’t afford to let him leave for free. I doubt we would get more than £75m next summer when he only has a year to go though.

He's the one player we absolutely can't lose. The whole offense runs through him and it's not exactly a secret that we've looked terrible whenever he's not on the pitch. Levy needs to open up the check book and pay up.

I find your wording and specifically your use of the word Offense, offensive and by gosh am I Offended.:cautious:

I think he will go if not this window then probably the next, especially if after a couple of months it looks like another season without a major trophy, PL or CL. Biggest problem is if he goes who follows?

I wouldnt blame any of them wanting to leave including Poch.

Hopefully we'll have another successful season with CL qualification and a trophy.

But we wouldn't be able to adequately replace him with money we'd get. We'd be gambling on a infererior player developing into a replacement.

Hell, I wouldn't be so sure we'd bring in a replacement at all. We've been unable to sign a championship player from a cash strapped club.

It's better to give him away for free next summer than to sell him for 100 now.
Without Eriksen we finish the league 10th

Id forgive him wanting to leave now. He's been a loyal servant and is now playing at the top of his game. He deserves to be challenging for regular trophies of which we are not yet.

Hopefully he'll sign a new contract but IMO that will be a mutually beneficial move for both player and club. If we fail to win a trophy and fall out of CL qualification, new stadium or not he'll deserve better than us.

The same will go for others.

It's bad enough thinking about him being unavailable for a few matches, we have left ourselves so short in any kind of back up, but to sell before bringing in ( potential) replacement(s) would be utter madness and I cant see it happening.

Oh I know. You don’t need to tell me. I fear Eriksen leaving as much as the next one

But it will happen eventually is the point - and probably not too long so this latest contract does feel huge. He’s like Kane, entering Bale “I’ve outgrown them” phase without the pull of having grown up at the club. Be a huge statement if he signed

My humble guess is that it's Barcelona Eriksen wants to play in at some stage and they look set at the moment. RM, PSG etc doesn't have the same pull factor.

Can't see him going this summer. Next summer much more likely and for a lot less due to the contract situation. There's no way he's signed already. We would've announced it. No reason to not announce it especially with all the negativity that's being said with stadium and lack of signings etc. Would've been prime time to get some people back on board. It certainly would make me a lot happier and forget about the transfer window etc quicker!

100m?! He's worth more than Couthinho. No sale either way, he's impossible to replace. Who else is going to get us 25 assists and 15 goals a season?

Can I have what you're smoking?

Eriksen has never even provided 25 goal and assists combined in one season in the league for us let alone 25 assists with 15 goals. His highest has been 10 goals/15 assists and given he takes most of the free kicks and corners, isn't that impressive.

Can't afford to let him leave this season. If someone came in with a massive bid would the club be able to say no. I just hope it doesnt happen but we may have to sell next summer if he doesnt sign a deal.

I'm full on in agreement that he's our most important player.. I know this scenario would never happen but, DiMarzio says we slapped a 200mil price tag on him. If we replaced him with SMS (100), Fekir (50) and Zaha (60) are we a better team? Completely hypothetical just think its interesting what people would say.

What about if we replace him with Skipp / Amos and Grealish and spend the rest on upgrading the micro brewery? Interesting what people would say

You don’t believe Eriksen will be sold? What, ever?
Of course at some point he will be sold, but his departure wouldn't be justifiable in this particular window considering we didn't even bring in an able replacement, and even then I still believe he is irreplaceable at the moment.

I wouldn't even be confident in saying that we'd do that the way the club is running at the moment. Levy would probably get Grealish and think he'd be able to fit into Eriksen's shoes while also gaining an enormous profit.

You’re forgetting the fundamental part of
that scenario which is wages.

I think more than anything that, at the momnet, he'd like to win a trophy with us and I am convinced he wants to play in the new stadium, however I am also sure that if this time next year we don't seem to be making the progress we need to he is at the stage where he will take worthwhile offers seriously, and to be honest he probably should.
