I have to admit I was EXTREMELY wrong about Eriksen.

I have said he is lazy. Not a 2 way player.

However I now realise we have to do everything to keep him, if possible

I'd love us to go in with an enormous bid for De Jong and force various people's hands.

Well by the looks of that article, we’re only looking at De Jong as an Eriksen replacement?

According to ITK we was interested in the summer regardless but he didn't wanna come to us. With that said I hope this is a new development and Jose goes to Madrid so Eriksen is put off the idea. Admittedly I've spun a lot of plates to get to that scenario.

His agent's earning his crust obviously. Trying to coax out whether Real's interest is serious or not. All part of the game.

If the interest is serious, then the agent most likely has been contacted already by Madrid's recruiters or even by Florentino himself.

This more sounds to me like the table is already set and his agent is doing some PR work, trying to avoid Eriksen been seen like a disloyal bastard the moment he moves to Madrid (probably because the Madrid crowd is a bit thraumatised about Cristiano leaving them for Juve, and they need some reasurence that any future stars they sign won't leave them just like that).

I don’t think so. The truth of it is that Real are quite skint. They haven’t made a Galatico signing for years. And they only just covered their 6 monthly wage bill when they sold Ronaldo.

Their wage bill swallows up a lot of their income, and they had to pay for upgrades to the Bernabeau.

If they want to try and get Hazard and Eriksen they’ll have to play a canny game.
