I'll fall on this grenade... Thank fuck for the depth we have from our new signings.

Saved us a good 2/3 pages there.

Not good news. I did say, I wondered if he'd been carrying this injury this season and it was part of the problem as to why he'd been so quiet.

"It's been long-term since he missed the game against Barcelona and [was] out again against Cardiff. It's been over a week and I know he's known about this problem for a while. Such an injury can become chronic, and I think that's what Tottenham are fearing as well."

Id surmise from that that hes been told he needs a rest so that the problem doesnt become 'chronic.' And though im not a sports scientist, im going to guess that athletes of his age and profile dont develop 'chronic' core muscle problems very easily.

If he is injured badly, and it can be put right by early surgury then it needs to be done. I'd rather this than just everyone trying to "cure" the thing with rampant juju thoughts..as per the usual way we go about things.

I'm going to be optimistic and say that this quote has been taken out of context a little and that he has a muscle strain in his abdomen and spurs wisely put it to Denmark that if he fucks off on international duty with them then it could be made a lot worse and chucked words like Chronic at them. I reckon he will be back for the West Ham game.

Reading the full quotes in the original language and knowing how Hareide tends to word things, I'm more optimistic than initially. Denmark even kept the slot in their squad open earlier in the week in case he'd make it.

If I remember correctly I’m sure Pochettino initially said he had a chance for Barcelona.

Exactly my thoughts, we've finally taken a srong stance on an injury and told them that he cannot be risked, using the term 'chronic' to show that it can become something much worse if not rested instead of being dragged off for international duty. Fergie used to be OTT with these kind of situations too because he understood the repercussions.

Our injury situation has deteriorated over this last year, it's time the club started to hold players back from international events when they have a niggle or really need a rest.

Yep this.

The danish coach shouldn’t really be blabbing all this.

Why not ? Why can’t we be told the truth ? Why do we have these silly secrets and fail to keep the fans up to date with injuries ? Spurs are in an entertainment industry and fans should be told these things.
