Why not ? Why can’t we be told the truth ? Why do we have these silly secrets and fail to keep the fans up to date with injuries ? Spurs are in an entertainment industry and fans should be told these things.
I think you are both right. Spurs should be a bit more open, especially around the international break when the national coaches feel compelled to update their own fans. That said, the protocol should be the club do the update.

Collectively they should all agree to have an agreed stance on player injury updates and that the clubs have an opportunity to update before the national team press briefings. That way fans find out and the clubs (as the paying employers) control the news flow.

I get that, at a point in time, the situation is often ‘we don’t know until further tests are done’ but at least that’s a consistent line to share as a holding position for all parties.

'Chronic' does not mean 'serious'
or even imply 'serious.
It means:
inveterate, confirmed, settled, habitual, hardened, rooted, deep-seated, continuing, persistent, persisting, stubborn, uncured, incurable, lasting, unyielding, tenacious, enduring, lingering, deep-rooted, abiding, perennial, perpetual, constant, fixed, continual, incessant, long-standing, recurring, continuous, of long duration, long-lived, unabating, protracted, ceaseless, sustained, lifelong, prolonged, recurrent, periodic, intermittent, continued, obstinate, incorrigible, unceasing, inborn, inbred, ingrained, ever-present;

Just saying.
It could be serious notwithstanding.
( or even notwithrunning)
But that is not addressed here

As somebody who has a 'chronic' condition, I understand that in medical terms it means 'long-lasting'. Generally taken as being a condition that will continue for 6 months or more.

It definitely doesn't mean serious or that the condition is not treatable.

Anyway, lost in translation, according to his agent:

“Christian has no chronic injuries — nobody has said that. He just has an injury related to some fatigue and, for that reason, he is having some rest. That is normal because otherwise it would not heal.

“Somebody has not translated well. Christian is doing everything to be back as soon as possible.”

Let's hope that means sitting around doing nothing for a couple of weeks

Form is temporary, class is permanent. How anyone can have a dig at one of our best players is beyond me. He is injured for a start and has been carrying this injury into the season which may explain why he's not at his best. Oh and he also covers more ground than anyone so not only is he one of our most talented but also one of our hardest working players.

Haters gonna hate. Some people don't care how good a player is, their agenda is far more important as opposed to rational thinking.

Crazy people digging at Eriksen.

I was critical couple of years back as he used to be very inconsistent, but since second half of season before last he has been consistently one of our best players.

Aside from his free kicks and corners... :cautious:

Ridiculous some of the stuff that has been said about him the last couple weeks.

Well for starters it's an inexact science, you never can be certain how long a player will be out for. And we know what would happen, if the club said a (key) player was out for, say, one month and then he was instead out for six weeks (and we lost games in those couple of extra weeks) - we'd have meltdowns galore from stupid fans and countless 'FFS sack the medical staff' type posts and the conspiracy theories about the club deliberately lying to fans about the severity etc etc etc. I think we can do without all that........

Also in general I don't see why any club would announce how long a player will be out or announce what game he will be back, purely for competitive reasons and not to aid the opposition with their planning for the game, however small difference it might make. If it was me I'd give no info, have very little of what happens on the training ground put on social media, etc etc.

Panic Over

Call me cynical but I can't help but feel that his agent is letting this be known so potential suitors don't get put off. I am really starting to worry about his future here. As for his injury, he has seemed to be suffering badly from fatigue so hopefully a few weeks off will sort him out.

I dont think the injury is a big deal but I'm pretty adamant this is his last season at spurs unless nobody comes in for him.

His agent wouldn't be doing his job otherwise

Anyone criticising Eriksen just needs to see the difference in the team with/without him. I sure know what I'd prefer
