Call me cynical but I can't help but feel that his agent is letting this be known so potential suitors don't get put off. I am really starting to worry about his future here. As for his injury, he has seemed to be suffering badly from fatigue so hopefully a few weeks off will sort him out.
Apart from just adding necessary players to the squad, the most damaging effect of this summers debacle may very well be the message that it sent to our players...

Form is temporary, class is permanent. How anyone can have a dig at one of our best players is beyond me. He is injured for a start and has been carrying this injury into the season which may explain why he's not at his best. Oh and he also covers more ground than anyone so not only is he one of our most talented but also one of our hardest working players.

...is the right answer. It's clear (or should be) that we've been missing him and SuperJan very badly. The whole shape and rythm of the team has been thrown into an imbalance.

Anyone criticising Eriksen just needs to see the difference in the team with/without him. I sure know what I'd prefer

They can’t or won’t. My mind boggles at fans being outraged at how poor we looked at the weekend and then not seeing the direct corelation to Eriksen not playing.

What is the hold up with his contract? Is it we dont want to pay the money or he doesnt wanna sign?

Why not ? Why can’t we be told the truth ? Why do we have these silly secrets and fail to keep the fans up to date with injuries ? Spurs are in an entertainment industry and fans should be told these things.

Not getting at you but I’ve never understood these types of comments. If you let the fans know then you let the opposition team know. I would think it’s better for us that West Ham don’t know if they need to make plans for Eriksen or our possible set up until as late in the day as possible. Hence Poch’s annoyance at leaks from the national teams.
The player is entitled to an element of privacy also explaining the speed at which his agent has shut down these rumours and issued the standard “he is working hard to get back on the pitch asap” comments.
Again, not at you but I’ve read so many comments over the years about people’s annoyance at the clubs secrecy in these matters when to me it is perfectly logical.

I hope we’ve made him a good offer. However on this occasion I suspect it might not be about purely money. I can understand his reluctance, he’s not that young anymore, has been here a long time and not won anything, no signings and stadium eating up funds isn’t helpful to his career. I would be keeping my options open in his shoes to see if the big boys in Spain are interested next summer.
Dele on the other hand is younger, still has developing to do and is in the best place in my opinion so may as well sign for an extra pay rise.

I dont think the injury is a big deal but I'm pretty adamant this is his last season at spurs unless nobody comes in for him.

Yep and we can’t really blame him. We’ve been a good stepping stone for him as things stand. We have 1 window left to show these players some ambition or we will loose them if a bigger fish comes along

The only two teams are Barca and Madrid and Barca looks stocked in that department whilst Madrid I think are going to spend all their cash on Hazard and maybe gun for Mbappe or a striker.

Dont see many teams although think Manure will definitely go in for him and Toby if contracts at a standstill

There’s not many teams like you say, that’s our best chance imo if the top tier teams don’t come in for him. He has that option to sign later of course.
If he’s stalling though his agent will have had some encouragement or he might as well take the extra money with us.
It will be hard to get hazard out of Chelsea so maybe he thinks if he runs his contract down he becomes an option for these teams.
He’s ambitious. Like I say, I wouldn’t hold it against him, he gives his all while he’s here and owes us nothing. He’s too good to go through his career without trophies (Ajax apart).

Or both. It could also be him and his people putting pressure on the club to show him the ambition with regards to bringing quality players in.

And I would extend that to Dele too.
As Danny Blanchflower said when asked if Hoddle was luxury.

''Hoddle a luxury?
No it's the bad players that are a luxury''

If he hasn't signed by the turn of the year you'd have to think he's gone. Once you get down to 18 months and other clubs start waving bosman style wages, heads will turn.

More rumors of Real Madrid wanting him as their Modric replacement... Nightmare scenario in that they get Eriksen, deem Kovacic a surplus and sell him permanently to Chelsea.

Think Kovacic will go to Chelsea, they want to keep him and if they finish top four i dont see why he would want to go to another Pl club and start from scratch. Chelsea will probably offer him more as well. As for Eriksen to RM, makes sense, they will be able to get him for relatively cheap in the summer and we will have very little wiggle room unless we can start a bidding war. Assuming he doesn't sign a new contract. Saying that, i would rather he goes to RM then City or another English club. At this point i would be amazed if he did commit long term to Spurs. The best we will maybe get from RM is Ceballos in return. Im sure it will be spun massively if it does happen mind, especially if Kovacic ends up at Chelsea.
