Christian Eriksen has told the media to ask Mauricio Pochettino if his failure to start games is down to not yet agreeing a new contract:

“You must ask the coach about that. I don’t know that, I’ve not felt that they would throw me out yet [says with a big smile].”

The headline I've seen the most on twitter has been:

“There have been talks with Tottenham many times. I can’t say if they are over. You must ask them.”

If Eriksen does sign I think that is all our big hitters sorted ; I omit Alderwireld as I think he wants out no matter what .All of these players committing to long term contracts convinces me that the players if not all then some of them have sounded out Poch and have got a positive response and it all looks good for the future

There's a lot of talk about his injury in danish papers today. It wasn't a stomach-issue, but an inflammation after a groin-injury. Says that he's been on a lesser schedule in order for it to heal properly, but that he's mostly fit now. Expects to play both matches for Denmark.

From the danish EB:
- Nej, jeg har ikke følt, at de vil smide mig ud - endnu. Men jeg ved selvfølgelig godt, at jeg er en forretning for klubben, siger Christian Eriksen til Ekstra Bladet og fortsætter.

"No, I havn't felt that Tottenham would throw me out - yet. But of course I know that i'm a business for the club (Levy!!)

- Men min fremtid er faktisk ikke noget, der har fyldt særlig meget i mit hoved. Den seneste tid har jeg tænkt mest på at blive klar igen efter min skade, siger Christian Eriksen.
"But my future is not something I think about to much. In recent weeks my only thought has been to get fit again so I can play.

Sorry for my not-so-good-english :)

Better than most on here and far better than our danish. Thanks.

Is it that much of a surprise that our best performance of the season comes as Eriksen is returning to some sort of fitness and by association form?

Amazing what a rest can do...

Now if only we could find the time to rest the others that clearly need it. (hopefully Jan returns somewhat fresher)

Just really want him to sign a new contract. Really concerned he will leave.

I think you have to assume it's 50:50 as to whether he does. If I were him, I would:
- wait till the summer
- see whether we're back in the CL
- see what investment we're prepared to make in the team
- see what interest there is, from which clubs
- take a view as to whether to sign a contract

At that point, he'd have a proper sense of the direction of the club, whether Poch was likely to stay, whether a move to Barca or Real was on the cards (where he could leave for less than otherwise), and he'd have us over a barrel - we'd have to pay him what he wanted in the knowledge he could leave for free the summer after (and get paid an obscene truck load of cash wherever he went - he's a £150m player they'd be getting for free).

We might not like it, but that's surely the rational thing to do in his situation.

We have to keep him, it would be an absolutely hammer blow to lose him

If he gets down to 12 months left, he's gone. The financial offers he'd be getting at that point top run his contract down would be so extraordinary that we just wouldn't be able to compete.

Surely he'd be getting them now - a quiet word in his agents ear "if you get to 12 months...."

Not sure it's so binary

It's funny because you add no value with your posts, you literally just sit at your computer all day calling people out for having an opinion on anything like it gives your pathetic life some sort of validation. I imagine it's similar to why people watch Jeremy Kyle.

I didn't see the game on Saturday but if Eriksen played well then fair enough, doesn't really change the fact he's been awful all season and will never have the attitude or commitment to make it at a club bigger than Spurs. Will he follow this up with 4 or 5 similar performances? We'll see.
