Get this sorted ffs Levy - we are all tired if it.

Guess what Donna, we pay our ridiculous prices to watch these people strutting their stuff, not award winning bogs and food.

Its been repeated literally hundreds of times from various sources that wages have nothing to do with it.

There is literally nothing Levy can do other than decide whether to take a fee in the summer or let him leave on a free a year later. Its up to Eriksen whether he wants to stay.

Hopefully a fee. Finding a suitable replacement if he left on a free would be the worst situation.

Obviously I hope he stays.

I meant more like De Jong and Sanabria
Or Grillitsch and Werner
Both with the potential to add Bowen or similar on top.
One bigger outlay and one lesser, depending where the priority lay.

Assuming Eriksen was circa £100m, then £60m ish for De Jong or Werner, £20m ish for Sanabria or Grillitcsh/Berge, the the remainder on a player with potential.

Any player will be acutely aware of Levy wringing every penny he can out of buying clubs, limiting their choices to the few clubs rich enough to meet the demand.

In that regard, if they player has an inkling they want to leave, they're in a far better position to get a move with less time on their contract. I strongly believe this is what Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderwierald have been doing.
It doesn't mean they 100% want to leave, but they know that they have a far better chance, with more choice, if they only have 1 year left.

Alderweireld and Eriksen maybe but Vertonghen has been going public to ask for a new contract.

The new contract offer is already on the table, it’s not anything to do about money or levy.
It’s that Eriksen will want to leave if he finds spurs lacking ambition in the transfer window, he’s made no secret that he dreams to play for Real Madrid. He’s in his prime and he wants to start winning trophies and rightly so.

Even if we spent £200m next summer I reckon Eriksen would still want to go if Real or Barca want him.

I think he just wanted to play for Ajax, in the PL, and for one of the Spanish two. That’s just how he imagined his career when he was younger and he’s got a chance to achieve it.

CHRISTIAN WORSHIP

Fulham new boy Ryan Babel thought Christian Eriksen would flop at Spurs – because he was too soft
The pair played together during Babel's brief second spell at Ajax in 2012

RYAN BABEL thought Christian Eriksen would flop at Spurs because he was too soft.

Fulham’s new loan signing and Tottenham midfielder Eriksen were team-mates during Babel’s brief second spell at Ajax.

The Holland international said: “I was very sceptical in the beginning because we played together for a year at Ajax in 2012.

“Of course Christian was amazing technically but, physically, he didn’t want to be in challenges.

“For him to go to England, I was sceptical about it.

“But so far he has amazed me — he is an incredible player who is much stronger than he was before.”

Eriksen is now regarded as one of the game’s best midfielders.

He was just 16 when he left Denmark for Ajax, where he went on to win three Eredivisie titles.

Former Liverpool man Babel rejoined the Dutch club in 2012 and the pair played together that season — winning Eriksen’s third league crown — before the Dane made his £11.5million move to White Hart Lane.

The 26-year-old is an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s team and is coveted by the likes of Real Madrid.

I seem to be alone but I have always been of the opinion if they don't want to commit to spurs then sell for as much as you can get and buy the best you can get that wants to play for spurs (wants to play for spurs) and does not have their head in some cloud elsewhere .
Some have said he is irreplaceable and that to me is hogwash as every player at some time has to be replaced ; the only difference is that some players are replaced earlier because of injury or age or bad attitude or in the case of Erricsen some kind of crush on the Spanish elite promoted by the Danish media.

I agree.

Naturally we don’t want to be too eager to sell but there is a timing to selling players.

We have bought the likes of Eriksen, Dembele and others before their prime, helped develop them, got some great football out of them then there comes a time to sell.

No amount of money from us will make us more attractive to Eriksen than Real or Barca.

If the offer comes in, that is acceptable to us, and he wants to go then we sell.

To be honest. Can’t refuse a player if he wants to go to those two clubs. It’s not like he’s trying to move to Chelsea or city.

I am not saying anything about the lure of Barca or Real Madrid all I am saying if they don't want to commit to spurs so be it .
Sell them for the best price and get someone in who actually wants to play for us and even us (lowly Tottenham Hotspur) have surely one or two that would be happy to commit and not use us as a stepping stone to The mega rich clubs who can guarantee trophies almost every year . If you are happy to be seen as a stepping stone for some players ambition then O.K.
Well I say I would aim for players that have one intention that is do their best for the team they are playing for with the ambition to bring success the club they are signed for not always with one eye on their ultimate goal (to play for the mega rich that guarantees trophies)
I seem to have a higher opinion of my club as I don't want to settle for being someones stepping stone but be seen as their ultimate aim.

Money, Trophies and Prestige. That`s generally what these world class players are looking for.

Barca and Madrid can offer all of the above (Bale, Modric)

Man City can offer Money and trophies (Walker)

We can offer......

Eriksen will be 27 in February and has always been a top professional in the almost six years he`s
been here. Seeing as we are not at the top of the food chain it seems quite natural that a player of his
ability will want to move on.

say if that is their mentality so be it move on an let our club move on to someone who maybe just maybe willing to accept what we have to offer .
And how about some of these players that want to go to one of the uber clubs taking a bit of responsibility and saying" I am going to try to take the club that I play for to the top" instead of the usual"I want to play at a higher level" that is just code for its too hard to make the top here so I want a club that is already at the top in essence lack of character and grits.
Whilst I understand their view and your view .I am allowed to take an opposing view.

I'd reluctantly take £100m for him and try to get 2 in to replace him

Actually, a couple of top-level full-backs could ease the pain :cautious:

It would take a significant period of training for us to redefine how we play without Eriksen, who is in essence the heartbeat of the team. We could only carry that out during a summer/pre-season period. Allowing him to go now would be suicide.

From the last games it feels like eriksen already is in Madrid. So for me it's better to sell him and try to bring in someone that want to play for us because now eriksen don't do much
