He can fuck off now. He was crap until Poch came. Get over 50 million, buy someone better and younger.

Just like we did with Walker ;)...I'm joking obviously, but I would have no faith in us replacing him before the end of the window. It also sends out the wrong message to the squad and the fans - if you want to leave, just kick-off to the papers.

Now I don't think he will ever play for us again, but I would personally make an example of him and stick him in the reserves for the year and work on bringing in Sessegnon over the season to replace him...

He's well within his rights but could have been more diplomatic about it but it's bad timing (although Christ knows when he actually gave the interview) and going to the Sun really?

He was looking promising at the beginning of the 2013/14 season under AVB before he got injured, I remember an excellent performance against Norwich when we won 2-0 but then he got injured and then Sherwood happened, that period what he's probably referring to and if that's the case then I agree with him, I'm not counting Sherwood as every player bar Adebayor were being mis-managed.

well my conscience is clear as i'd always maintained from the beginning that he'd go on to be a top player.

still think he's a twat for this though.

I have no problem with what he said. I think he was genuine. I like his honesty as opposed to the pretence.

His pitch essentially is ' i have 1 shot left so i want as much money as i can get, and also medals too. As a side point I want to play closer to home at some point'.
It makes sense.

To the Sun? Two days before the season starts? Including a dig at his team mates not being good enough?

But why go to The Sun with it? His position gains absolutely nothing from it, except making him hated. He could just say to the club pay me more and sign better players or I'm leaving. But do it behind closed doors. What he's done is counter productive for himself and puts the club in crisis 2 days before the season. He's either incredibly badly advised, or really, truly stupid.

My guess = he went to the Sun to pressure us into giving him a better deal.
If he had gone behind closed doors it would be less effective. Now it's public so alot of people will be approaching his agents.

I don't see why you think this puts the club in 'crisis'. Everyone wants higher pay.

Even though we don't like this can we all as a group rise above it.

No booing, no abuse, I can't believe he's done it but I hate what this could become.

I'm usually pretty level headed with these sort of things but I can honestly say that Danny Rose can fuck off. I'd rather re-sign Atouba than see Rose play again for us, it's not the fact that he wants to earn more money and have a better chance at silverware, I actually admire his honesty. What really irks me is the timing and the way in which he's let it be known. I don't think it's an overreaction to say that without both Walker and Rose we are in serious trouble.

That's exactly what he wants. This is entirely designed to get himself a transfer in the next 3 weeks - nothing else.

This is the bit which I think will do the most damage:

"As a starting 11 we have one of the best in the league, without a shadow of a doubt, but after that …"

It doesn't matter if he's right or not you can't disrespect your team mates like that. Even more so when Poch has instilled a policy of respecting everyone at the club.

He gains nothing? Bet he gains a move.

Lord Sugar not impressed :

Disgusting article by Danny Rose @TheSun . Unprofessional and totally ungrateful . It's demoralising and disappointing. Chuck him out

As I said on the transfer forum I just don't understand him doing it now...he's coming back from injury...not like he's having a blinding spell and using it to force a pay rise. It's totally mistimed (unless he's trying to get out before the window shuts)...and he's been very badly advised by his agent.

He didn't say we weren't good enough.
To the Sun/2 days ago: whats wrong with that?

He insinuated the players who aren't in the first 11 aren't good enough.

We are meant to be an inclusive team where everyone works for each other and respects the contribution that each player makes. A lot of the pre-season work is about bonding the players as much as fitness and tactics. Danny Rose has just publicly driven a wedge between the players.

If he wasn't injured I'd say that he'd played his last game for us.

Wow. We are such an oversensitive group of fans. DR is just being honest. I would like to think he's just ramping up pressure on Daniel Levy with regard to new signings, rather than agitating for a new contract or angling for a move. I posted this (below) on another site. Go on, shoot me down ...

I can't see anything wrong with any aspect of Rose's statement (as a lifelong Spurs fan). Danny Rose is not a Spurs fan, merely a well-paid employee of the club. He sees himself playing up north at the end of his career - no surprise there, and no slight to THFC. He wants a shot at one last big contract - of course he does. Who wouldn't? Seems to me that could easily be at Spurs, if the purse strings are loosened a little when the new stadium revenue comes onstream. If Levy continues to keep things as tight as they are now it will be no surprise if one or two players leave for more money elsewhere. Timing? - again, seems perfectly reasonable to me. This could be viewed as Rose attempting to apply a bit of pressure to Levy and the other Tottenham paymasters.

Sure he wants a few big names through the door. Why not? (sdo most fans) It doesn't have to be Bale or Messi. But I don't think the likes of Barklay, Mahrez or Balde are particularly unrealistic. Get two of them, and we massively increase our attacking options. And the likes of Danny Rose would be quietly pleased that his statement has had the desired effect.

Then it's just down to trophies. A couple of major trophies over the next two or three seasons will keep most of the players happy, I think (if combined with realistic, and well-earned, pay rises). This is where it gets a little more complicated - it's ultimately up to the players to keep raising their game to ensure we do win trophies. Sometimes it appears they don't understand that. Or view a switch to a 'bigger' club as the quicker, easier way of achieving it.
