How is he a more intelligent player?

His use of the ball in the final third is better the majority of times I've seen him. Even though he gets in great attacking positions, Rose is still often wasteful when he gets there.

I'd still pick Rose over Davies though.

You obviously didn't see him perform for Wales in the Euros where he was superb in a back three.

He was ok against some pretty poor teams. The quality of the whole tournament was poor.

I'm judging him on what I've seen for us and Swansea.

Average defensively and awkward on the ball.

His passing is far better than Rose and he's a more intelligent footballer. Not saying Rose isn't a better LB and losing him is a blow, but Rose is far from perfect and Davies is more than an adequate replacement.

Think you're doing Rose a disservice.

Danny's crossing sometimes lets him down but his general passing is really good.

Davies is at the same level as Rose, if not better defensively.
Davies is more disciplined. He doesnt get more forward often. But when he does, he does create clear cut chances. Though, I would agree Rose is better option, as he poses a different threat to opponent teams with his drive & tenacity. Davies is more predictable so, can be contained.

Same level? No chance.

I don't think either are amazing defensively but Rose has so much more to his game. Davies should really be amazing defensively to be playing for a club like spurs because he's limited on the ball and has no pace.

Stoke fans have it in for Rose after an incident the other season, think he scored the winner and one of their players was sent off for a foul on him also, they've had their knives and pitchforks out for him since, remember him getting dogs abuse and was subbed before he got sent off himself that game, therefore could see Davies start this one esp if there's any doubts over Dannys fitness.

Davies is more than capable back-up happy to have him.

Rose is better athlete and has more drive but this shouldn't detract from Davies contributions. He is more considered with his forward runs, picks more intelligent passes in the final third and is better defender than Rose.

Davies has rightly kept Rose out of the team for stretches during his time with us and not looked out of place. Yes, Rose has qualities that are probably more suited to Pochetinnos ethos but Davies is a more than adequate back up.

More GCSE's, rumour has it Rose only turned up for 2 of his exams arriving late and bundling into his desk unnecessarily both times before throwing his hands in the air swearing at the exam adjudicator and spitting on the school hall floor

Missed him massively yesterday. I have a feeling that he's responsible for more than just pace and aggression on the left; he's also key in some way to us switching sides and stretching the opposition. Just my ill-informed opinion, as there are so many moving parts involved in that, particularly the midfield pair.

I think if Rose isn't playing you're going to have to play Nkoudou to replace the pace we miss on the left...Yesterday Monaco soon got wise to our attacks on the right with Walker and shut them down, think if we had Rose as well we coukd have caused them more problems.

I thought Davies was very good in the second half. A lot of nice moves came down his side and helped us get in behind them a few times. I do think we lacked Rose's pace which would of created more room across the Pitch. Monaco played quite a high line I think Rose would of pushed them back more.

We do have strength in depth at left back which is good!
