His comments are very interesting but will be spun in a negative way in the media. It will put unnecessary pressure on us I think.

Fuck the media. The players continuously say that Pochettino is the real deal and helps them grow and develop. I think we're the ones with the issues regarding the media, not them.

No doubt about the players being behind Poch. I just think the media will speculate even more about players wanting to leave.

From listening to a clip of the interview (haven't listened to the whole programme yet), the tone of his voice seems to suggest he's talking about Walker rather than Walker and himself when he brings up individual players having their own reasons for potentially wanting to move on, albeit it's far from clear cut and he could just as much be offering a guarded insight into his own current thoughts.

What seems pretty unambiguous [disclaimer: in black-and-white only, as I'm only going by the transcript rather than the audio for this part] is that he is concerned about our squad depth, to the point where he's literally saying exactly that. The comments about "imagine if Dele/Eriksen got injured" also seem quite telling: seems to me like he's throwing a big gauntlet down at the Club's door with these comments and won't be happy if we don't address significantly improving our bench for next season.

However, on the flip-side, he also is clearly head-over-heels for Pochettino, and as long as Poch is at the club then I imagine he'd be very reluctant to leave unless we didn't make satisfactory strides in the transfer market.

Overall I think it's a pretty positive interview (certainly the Kane comments warm the cockles!), but it's just great to hear a footballer talking honestly without resorting to a whole bunch of meaningless cliches.
Never a good idea to throw the gauntlet down at the club door I think.

Like I say, haven't listened to that bit yet (and won't until tomorrow now), but it certainly reads like a challenge to the club to me. How positive/friendly vs dealbreaking/critical that challenge is meant as is probably the crux of whether we as fans should be concerned to a greater or lesser degree (and pretty much impossible to judge that without listening to the audio), but it's interesting that he seems to be making a pretty specific point quite publicly.

I'm in no doubt that they will, but I think Poch has them convinced that they will be successful staying put, and that that message is more powerful than some bullshit media speculation.

Time will tell i suppose.

Everyone of our existing squad are ambitious. They want to win trophies etc. To win trophies they need quality depth.

As he says, they dont want to be regarded as nearly men or a nearly club. I like that ambition. If the club cant fulfill that then players will righfully leave.

I think in regards to Dele/Eriksen, we're actually pretty well off in regards to depth, Son and Lamela (if fit) are more than capable of deputising for either. It's the likes of Kane, and Jan/Toby which are proper depth concerns.

Danny will be 28 next year, we're very close to winning something but if we don't I can see him considering his future. There are only a few clubs he could move onto though. Chelsea could do the double this year but we'd never sell to them. Man U have won two trophies but what they really want is to challenge for the league and the CL. It's going to take them time to achieve this even though they are chucking loads of money around. The only other option is Man City and they've won nothing this year.

What really matters, is that we continue with our model and make it a well oiled machine. So that when players leave, we have other players ready to step in. This is why it would be a good time to buy Sessegon now and loan him back to Fulham.

I love him.

He doesn't talk much to the media and I think it's partly because he's so straight talking. You're not going to be able to get Danny to chat shit, he's just brutally honest, it's refreshing.

I listened to the whole thing last night and thought Danny came across as a thoroughly decent fella. I also think that he sounded very happy at the club and that his comments stating that the club can only do so much to keep players, were a very positive but honest indictment of where we are and he clearly feels we're going in the right direction - he acknowledged that we can't pay the very highest wages, but he stated, along the lines, that asling as we keep improving and progressing, showing ambition, we will get to the silverware promised land.

He was pushed to say what we could do to improve and he was honest. My opinion is that he certainly won't be leaving (bar the unforceable i.e. fall out with Poch etc..) any time soon and that he doesn't foresee many players within the group wanting to leave either. He was asked directly, in the context of the closeness of the squad, how he would feel about a marquee signing coming in and whether that could cause an imbalance in squad harmony, and his answer was that he personally would feel motivated by it and thought the squad would too... personally, that's what I want to hear from our players.

I felt proud that he was our player representing our club. Good on you Danny - you've got my support.

I'm just frustrated that, already, the interview has been chopped up and bastardised in order that 'journalists' can sensationalise and whip up hysteria where there was none.

Naive to think going on national radio and calling us a nearly club is going to result in anything else.

He was just stating that some players might think that - perhaps that wasn't a particularly eloquent or intelligent way to put it, but it was an innocuous answer to a question and he followed by stating that when you've got a player like Kane saying he's sticking around and want a to achieve so much with the club, you've got nothing to worry about!

A smart thing to say would've been 'no reason for anyone to go anywhere, we're going to win things here'.

Although perhaps he doesn't actually believe we're going to win trophies, which could be indicative of why we aren't!

It's easy to come up with better answers when you have time to sit and think about it.
