Thats a very simplistic way of looking at it, his value is peaking, theres every need to sell if he wants to be elsewhere.
If he's not buying into the project anymore and wants out we'll sell, and rightly so.
Being available for selection wouldn't matter a jot if his heart is set on moving elsewhere, the need to sale stems from the fact that the player will want to leave and down to the fact that we're stilling on £50m which will be diminishing every year which can be re-invested back into the squad.
We don't need to sell to reinvest in the squad I think we need to draw a line now, there is noway anyone would agree to him joining Arsenal or Chelsea, we need to put the Manchester clubs and Liverpool in the same bracket otherwise they will think they can get any of our players.

We don't need to sell to reinvest in the squad I think we need to draw a line now, there is noway anyone would agree to him joining Arsenal or Chelsea, we need to put the Manchester clubs and Liverpool in the same bracket otherwise they will think they can get any of our players.

The two teams we are most likely to sell to in the league are the two Manc clubs but these are only in extreme circumstances, I think if a player wants to leave providing that the manager is happy with it then I don't think there's much point of keeping them around due to reasons I stated before. It's all well and good saying that we need to keep our players but we need to be realistic. Unfortunately we don't have the financial clout to tell our rivals to piss off because all they're going to do is come back and up the stakes until they get what they want, it's how the financial football food chain works.

We may not NEED to sell to reinvest in the squad but that money will certainly help us, we are in a pretty delicate situation at the moment in regards to the stadium so we need to be clever in how we spend and how we accumulate, whether it goes back into the squad or puts more money in the kitty for wages then so be it either way it''s money that we'll need. We can't afford to sit on £50m especially for a player who has absolutely no interest in playing foe the club as suddenly he's not an asset anymore and he depreciates in value and then we lose out both ways...it just doesn't make any business sense.

Fans don't want to hear it but it's the truth and until we can start paying the top rate what these clubs do then we're always going to be vulnerable to these teams attempting to pick us off.

Integrate back into the club this season and use him fully.
See where his head is in the summer. If he wants a move north we will have to sell but should sell to Utd not Citeh.
Price must be higher than Walker as Rose is the better player.
For me we need to get 60 million and must make sure we can buy Sessengnon and Sancho for around 45 million total. That gives us another 15 million to the pot for other talent....then the only question is do we have enough at left back between:
Davies, KWP, Bennett, Sessegnon? If not, use the remaining money and funds from other sales and try for Tierney

That would be disappointing and worrying. Disappointing because I think he's a far more effective player than Davies. Worrying because as a club we need to find a way of dealing with 'dissent' that doesn't involve selling a player at the first opportunity.

There is no way we'll get the expected £40m-£50m for him if he never plays again. He will, he just won't be first choice anymore. He'll play a part, prove his fitness, and be off in the summer, almost certainly to United.

Reading all this stuff though brings it back - I haven't paid any attention to Rose since his outburst - from that moment he'd burnt his bridges and suddenly wasn't a Spurs player anymore to me. But the truth is he's a brilliant left back, probably the best in the league.

If you'd told me at the end of last season that we'd be losing both Walker and Rose, the two best full backs in the league, both first choice for England, and it would all happen in the next 12 months (especially selling them to the two Manchester clubs) I'd have told you that was a complete disaster for the club. I still think it is in many ways - yes Trips is decent and Aurier looks like he could potentially be amazing, yes Davies has stepped up magnificently and played out of his skin - but the fact remains that even if we haven't massively weakened ourselves (and I do think our starting 11 is actually a bit weaker without them both in it), we have, or will, seriously strengthen our two major rivals for the title in their weakest positions.

It's really not ideal for the club at all, and I view the whole situation with both Walker and Rose as a seriously negative period for us, no matter how well we try and manage it with big fees and new signings.

I've not been the biggest fan of Davies' in the past, but I must say that in 2017, I haven't missed Rose one bit. Right in this moment, Davies is one of the very best in the league in his position (probably not THE best, but top 3 I'd say). If we look towards the immediate future, ie. the rest of this season, the only situation I can see that we would really, truly be in dire need for Rose is if we by late winter/early spring are still very much in the running for several major trophies. Goes without saying that in such a scenario, we would need both Rose and Davies equally much.

Or if Davies gets injured.

Reckon Poch will give him and Lamela a go in the Carabao Cup game this month. Can't see them featuring heavily until then.

Is he far more effective than Davies? It was easy to say that when Rose was first injured, but months down the line, with a huge winning streak, and good form at the beginning of this season, you have a hard case to make that Rose is better than Davies. Davies is in the form of his life and right now I'd not be dropping him for Rose, even if fully fit.

As to dealing with 'dissent', you need to change perspective. Poch is trying to create an atmostphere where no one is bigger than the collective, and so the approach from the camp is that dissent will mean being ostracised or sold in some cases. We need to catch up with that, and start to believe in the club a bit more.

I think so, yes. Of course, he may never fully recover his best form, but I don't think our winning streak was due to us replacing Rose with Davies, and I think we'd have done even better with Rose in the side. But I could be wrong. Whichever way that goes, I still have a problem with a man-management system whose first response to a difficult situation is to freeze a player out, then put him up for sale.

Notwithstanding a almost definate sale in the January Window, think Rose will play against the smaller teams, and Davies against the big teams. I think Davies on current form is The better player.

Playing in the smaller games will help bring on fitness and hopefully some good performances. Can see him do the man united move for at least 60mil.

I'd bite their hand off for Martial and Shaw. The latter only having 6months left on his contract anyway. Cherry on top sweetener.

Ok........... we will only sell Rose to UTD if they give us one of Rashford or Martial

Now what?

Personally think we should cash in but for a minimum of £50m

Get Sessengnon from Fulham, continue to play Davies, no loss in quality, money in the bank and more future proofing.

We should have got RS this summer. If he has a great season the money clubs will blow us out the water next summer.

Same approach Man Utd took when Stam, Beckham and Van Nistlerooy all got too big for their boots and all top players at the time.

Rose hasn't played for a year and judging by the way we dealt with Walker by making a huge profit and bringing in arguably a more capable replacement i was happy

Man Utd were, and are, capable of paying whatever it takes to replace any player they choose to sack off. In contrast, we currently have 6 or 7 players who could quite possibly more than double their wages by leaving us. If Poch's response to a player 'playing up' is to let them go and get that massive wage increase, then I can see a moral hazard there. Were Rose's comments a sign of naivety, or Billy Big Bollocks syndrome, or a perfectly rational (if disloyal) attempt to prompt Poch's knee-jerk response, leading to a move to a richer club, with probably better chances of personal success?

Players will be sold get used to it .Fergie constantly sold players becham ince Stam the list is endless. Its knowing when to sell is the key.Spotting their sell by date.Poch is a volatile character much like fergie.Once you cross the line there’s no going back.I totally trust poch to sell at the right time for the club.Im trying to think of a player who left Man U under fergie and went on to better things Ronaldo and Pique are only 2 I can think of,He rarely got it wrong.
