Player watch: Danny Rose

I often feel like fans want to have their cake and eat it too. We want players to be 100% loyal to club, but will fail to get behind players when they aren't playing well. I don't know Danny Rose, so I will not speak on his character. The interview did bother me and was at best misguided, but I also remember how much Rose was slated by fans when he resigned.

I am happy with a situation in which all the above is water under the bridge--DR shows he is committed to the club, and the fans show him love for that commitment. From a footballing perspective, I think it would be a huge coup for him to stay and regain form. The most important thing for me is that, through everything, I have never seen Danny give less than 100% on the pitch (for much of last season he was clearly less than 100%, but I chalk that down to fitness rather than lack of effort). At the end of the day I respect him for that.

Some people on here need to get over themselves. Yes Danny was out of line but we are a better team with him in it and we wouldn’t find a better left back who would want to come.

Have we been linked with any left backs recently? I'm not counting Sessegnon as I think he'll end up an attacking mid and will also cost too much this summer.

Only one I have seen is Alex Telles from Porto mentioned briefly. I can't see Porto selling two of their right backs and their starting left back this year though.

i can remember that there were reports claiming that telles has a relatively low release clause, not so sure though

Interesting if true. I could remember wrong but I felt like last year we thought the same of Pereira and that fell apart spectacularly. Seems like ManU have had luck triggering it for Dalot and Leicester snapped up RP so perhaps Porto are in a place where they need the money more and cannot fight as hard?

If rose goes to utd maybe we get shaw
I'm not sure why man utd would want him right now.

He has to prove that he can get back to the level he once was pre-injury. I'm not convinced that he ever will, many never really recover from these things (Jenas, Huddlestone and Lennon are all players who were never able to replicate past form after a long lay off through injury ). But, right now not worth selling, I want him to come on prepared for next season and prove me wrong.

No links to left backs = Rose not going anywhere for now.
Did we have any links to RBs before we sold Walker last summer? I don't recall any solid links, and I thought Aurier was not really linked until late in the window - he was still deciding among other teams, and waiting on a work permit.

We were fairly strongly linked with Pereira iirc.

Likewise mate - i hope he does. Would save us a few quid and we'd have one of the best LBs around again. I hope he realises he cocked up a bit and get's on with getting fit and winning his place back for us.
