I remember when we were first linked with him, he was right up our street and someone posted a link / review from an Ajax fan stating he will go on to be the best defender in the world and I thought at the time, "mmm a bit fanciful" but having watched him live 4-5 times now I honestly think this is the best signing of the summer by all PL clubs. He never looks in trouble. Best defensive minded player at the club since Ledley and Richard Gough. With Toby we currently have the two best four defenders been at the club in the past 35 years.

Bit harsh on Verts. Also immense

IMO , Sanchez biggest test will be against Liverpool on Saturday. Not that Liverpool have good no9s, its mainly to do with him handling the high press from Liverpool & not giving the ball away.

I've got admit, I knew zilch about him before he joined but I've really been impressed. A very good player with bags of potential. Great signing.

I've noticed that Poch doesn't let him go up for corners. Seems weird as we could use his physicality and height to score from more corners. Not sure what the risk is as he has enough pace to catch up to any counter attack opportunity that would stem from a corner in the opposition half.

I think it's because of his pace and is a reflection of the confidence that Poch has in him to cover any breakaways. We have enough big strong players that should be able to score from set pieces without him.

Sorry, I'm not sure I follow your logic. Wouldn't it show more confidence in Sanchez's pace if he was indeed told to go up for corners? Poch knows he has pace, probably enough to cover the ground needed to interfere or get back into position if a breakaway were to occur.

I'm pretty sure he's been up for corners. I recall him flashing a header wide a few games ago.

It's less about having confidence in his pace and more in having confidence in him as a player - that he will be able to cope with Mane (for instance) by himself until the rest of the team get back into position. Impressive in such a young player - particularly in his position.

Whoever sanctioned this buy, should get a raise, and have a bigger say in future transfer windows.

Stunning how easily he has adapted and fit into the defense.

Still amazing that this guy is so young. What a buy. He completes our defence perfectly.

Stonkingly good performance last night. It's going to take a search party weeks to locate Ronaldo in Sanchez's pocket

21 years old, playing at this level as a centre back consistently already. Absolutely bonkers.

I knew nothing about him and figured he'd be a bit part player but Dy-amn! This dude is the real deal. He's almost a sweeper in his play.

Spurs really ought to release a defender version of our shorts that has a back pocket......would be very amusing setting one of them pull out a panini sticker of Ronaldo after the match.
