There are a few things to love about Sanchez. His physical attributes - strong, fast, good in the air - are potentially a better combination than any other CB in the league. For a big man - he is very good with the ball at his feet. He also appears to be very coachable - I have noticed improvements in his game from positioning, to making fewer reckless challenges just in the course of this season. If you watch, he also instinctively moves when we have the ball to make sure he is an outlet pass for other defenders and Lloris.

The fact that he has gone from Ajax, and a league, not known for its defense, to PL and taken to the game like a duck to water in his first season is very encouraging for his (and Spurs) future. Add to that - someone had the foresight to get him signed to a 6-year deal - means that he should be here for a long time.
I'd add to that and say that it was only two years ago where he started to get serious game time for Nacional. If you look at old footage you can see how raw he is and how much he still had to learn. I think it shows how fast he is improving and how far his ceiling really is, whilst displaying how incredibly well he's done to adapt to the Prem.

We've done so well in getting him here.

Sancez positioning is awful at times..loads of time to learn.. I do wish Toby was calling him into line.. that's one of the the things about Toby he's not the quickest but he reads the game & positionally I can't think of a better defender.. I do think our fanBase massively overates Sanchez..watch a game with your eyes just on him & you will see how positionilly poor he is.. pace gets him out of poor positioning time & time again.. he's youno but he has to learn..

One (Toby) is a 29 year old with over 340 games in the Dutch, Spanish and English leagues. The other (Sanchez) is a 21 year old with close to 115 appearances in Colombian, Dutch and now English league. Clearly, context is needed when comparing both players. Sanchez will get better with game time, he's shown how adaptable he is and Poch will only help improve him even further.

Amazingly solid season.

The only time I’d seen him before he joined was the europa league final where I thought he struggled. But he hasn’t looked like that player at all. He’s been amazing in his first season in England. Let’s hope he keeps it up next year.

Yep. Have to go along with the gist of recent posts. Damn fine acquisition. Of course still learning, but wow...21.

Monster in the making. Job well done all involved securing this signing.

Very good young centre back, physically very impressive, generally very composed and calm. Only issue I have is that he’s a bit casual and over confident occasionally, giving players a bit of a head start unnecessarily, but this has already improved dramatically lately and hasn’t affected us overly badly. Happy with him and Vertonghen as first choice next season but if Toby leaves then an experienced back up/ alternative will be vital.

IMO he should get a lot more credit, it's his first season of PL football, his second in Europe...he's a beast, quick, composed, strong with good technique - i'm very impressed, what a signing... very good business even at 40m
