I know it's pointless but I can't help but love him for it.

Liverpool fans have obviously been voting in the BBC ratings.... Dier finishes bottom of the starting 11, even below Alexander-Arnold....

Thought this was his best game for club and country for a long time. Still gets beaten too easily at times but as mentioned earlier, a fired up Dier is the best kind of Dier.

I'd have thought they would have appreciated the Ramos challenge. Silly dippers.

I hope he stays that angry this weekend, if he could repeat that battling performance by refusing to be intimidated and puts it about a bit with some aggression without going over top in what is likely to be a similar provocative tussle with Mark Noble and Arnautovic et al we could do with that too, and Winks didn't shirk from fray when it threatened to boil over at one point. We will definitely need some of that spirit on the field this Saturday to take the 3 points and to shut that gobby and bitter lot up.

Thought Dier was top class last night, so massively underrated on here, seems to be the new Jenas in terms of being used as a scapegoat

Have to echo the thoughts of others. Thought Dier played well last night, be damn fine player if he could add some positive consistency to his game.

Every now and then he puts a blinder of a performance in, alas, not very often, and strangely often reserved for England duty.

Still, proves he has the ability to raise his game, just need to work out how to bring it to the fore week on week.

I think Dier and Winks could be a really effective partnership with a bit of time playing together.

Winks tends to sit quite deep, but also has the pace and energy to make bursts forward, and track back when possession is lost. which Dembele does not. This enables Dier to sometimes push a little further forward and play incisive passes into the final third (a trait that he doesn’t get much credit for).

Yesterday for England he looked a lot more powerful and imposing than he has for spurs in a while, and I think that’s because when he plays for us, he is usually sitting very deep, on the back foot a lot of the time, and is only utilised when we are playing the ball out from the back. He is much more effective when he is involved in the passage of play IMO.

Dier was great yesterday, looked to have gained a yard of pace and his positioning was solid. Also that tackle was not pointless. It's saying to one of Spain's leading players that you're my bitch, no matter which part of the pitch you're on. There's a real psychological impact to both teams from clean, aggressive tackles like that.

He played well. Don't think he's become a scapegoat though, he's just been very poor for awhile now. If he played like that every week no one would be moaning

Must be an odd experience for him getting praise almost to cult hero status. Will be very interesting to see what this confidence might do for him. That could have been a career defining tackle. However crazy that sounds.
