He polarises our fan base because I think most of us looked to him as our replacement for Bale.

A lot of us thought that he would be the superstar who beats defenders, racks up 20 goals a season and takes the new look team back into the Champions League. I remember their being a massive shit storm on Twitter when we signed him as it was widely considered a real coup.

Turns out he didn't become that player, but by no stretch of the imagination has he not been good for us.

Poch got him fit and motivated again, and instead of being the player that tears down the wing, he became the guy that presses like a maniac and finds key passes.

Most players who cost what he did at the time and had his injury problems would have been sold at the first opportunity, however there is a reason why Poch wanted to keep him around, and spoke publicly about doing so too.

Even though he was brought in as Bale's replacement we all knew he would never reach that level, still don't think he has reached his peak yet though

As for showing form in patches .Show me a player that does not have moments when out of form because that individual does not exist unless he is a robot

As I understand it, piedpiper doesn't like Lamela mostly because he doesn't have the crazy wicked hair of Mane, the luxuriant beard of Salah or the nuclear white tombstone teeth of Firmino.

I cry a little overtime I see Mane's name... Son, Mane, Eriksen, Dele & Lamela is a ridiculous group.

I think it's more that you disagreed with a fact.

Yeah whilst typing my response to the offended poster, i realised he included the EL that season. At that point i remembered his EL goals. However when i gave the rating i remembered Alli was in excellent form. Ive since googled and the difference in goals was 2 between Alli & Lamela. Alli scored 10 in the league to Lamela's 6.

A goal and an assist, give the man more fucking game time. Love what I'm seeing, he's just always getting into/creating opportunities.

I love him, love his passion and love of the club and love him as a player. One of the best players at the club when fit and in form.

Lamela/Kane/Lucas would be my front three at the weekend. Lamela has to start now.
Only Eriksen offers more creativity to the team, due to the lack of a new CM we need his creativity & spark in the team.

It’s very important he stays fit, I’m not sure we should overplay him right now to be honest. He’s started the season fantastically though, I’d keep him as supersub against Huddersfield and Barca then give him a PL start against Cardiff.

His form though has taken our squad level up massively. I don’t see any reason at all in signing another attacking midfielder with the options we now have. Son, Dele, Lamela, Eriksen and Lucas is a fantastic choice of players for what is only ever 3 spots.

Buzzing for him, his had unfair critics last season and year before, he is a warrior, never hides.
