Should've been called up for Argentina really looking at some they've taken in his place
Im so glad he hasn’t, last thing we need is him picking up an injury or getting too fatigued. It does seem Poch has starts to mange his injuries recently. I’m sure if he continues to perform as he has been he will get his shot.

So, why do you think Poch isn't starting Lamela more? Do you think he's just managing his fitness or maybe he doesn't want Lamela to show he probably should be starting ahead of either Eriksen and Dele, because he doesn't want to upset his golden boys before they sing their contract extensions?

I don't think there's anything sinister behind this. I guess Pochetino thought we should be beating the likes of Huddersfield and Cardiff without having to risk too much a player who has proven these past few seasons to be a bit injury prone. However, looking ahead to our next three fixtures, Lamela clearly has to start all three of them if we want to give ourselves the best chance to both stay alive at the CL and to keep pace with the top 6 (counting Bournemouth here, who are just two points behind us and Arsenal).

If Lamela doesn't start in at least two of those three games (West Ham, PSV and City), I may start feeling a bit worried about Pochetino's judgement.

I just don't see this at all. Poch has always loved Lamela. Much more than many SC "experts".

Lamela is being managed to ensure he's there for the most important games - and, more importantly, for AS MANY GAMES as possible.

It's all about fitness longterm with Lamela. I thought that would be obvious.

I think we underestimate how Poch attempts to manage the fitness and health of players. What I do know is that the last couple of seasons we have finished strongly and is that is down to carefully handling players over the season then so be it.

I dont think you can manage a player like that. Sure you wait until he is fit and nurse them back to full fitness but he currently is not injured and is match fit. He could pull up in training tomorrow and be out for 6 months. In fact he's more likely to pull up playing 20min spells here and there.
I've no idea why he's not starting him but he needs to be starting imo and the sooner the better.
Its a strange one.
Perhaps Poch knows more than us

I've seen the clamour for Lamela to start and even chuckled when Sissoko started Saturday ahead of him. Im sure that got a few riled.....

Okay on a more serious note i think its Poch being :
1. Weary of his injury record so is building him up slowly.
2. Poch doesnt tinker with his teams much so getting in it is harder.
3. He needs Son firing again and has to give him minutes to get him into form again.
4. Lamela is in good form at the moment and perhaps have him as an impact sub making a difference and turning games.
5. Him not starting Saturday i suspect was down to his motm performance against Barcelona and it coming too soon after that.

We well balanced now with Lamela/Son/Moura/Dele/Eriksen.... Its down to Poch to manage them all and give them all minutes in the 4 competitions we are in.

edit. Just seen Hercules & Phomesy allude to easing him back.

When he went down vs. Barcelona and got subbed after what seemed like a cramp, I never really expected him to start at the weekend. Hopefully he can spend the next two weeks working on his fitness and be ready to start vs. West Ham. It's the type of fixture he thrives on.

After Herc's post I read yours and felt that there was no need for it, in the nicest way as its an interpretation of the post above with a prickish undertone with the 'would be obvious'.!

There’s a pic on Twitter if Lamela being carried off the pitch during training, by Toby and Davies I think...he’s not injured again is he?

Lol. I may be wrong, but I think there is a bias there. Please call it as it is without tinted specs. For the record, I like Coco, and believe he has done enough to activate his 2 years extension. Is he expendable compared to Alli? Behave please my friend.

Yes, I called it without tinted specs. You should behave.
