Absolutely shocking, so one footed. Clean through on goal, just needs to shoot with his right and tries to cross with his left. Cam only be an average player if You cant even kick it with your other foot

He has scored with his ‘weaker’ foot before.

He wasn’t the only player that was not at their best today.

he needs game time to get back into a rhythm. Him, Eriksen and Alli were all so out of sync with each other.

There have been times in his Spurs career -- namely the last month of the 2015-16 season and the beginning of this season while Dele and Eriksen were injured -- where he's been our best player. When he's at his best, he's proven that he can be a match winner for us.

He's just so frustratingly inconsistent. We could really do with him finding his best form between now and Kane's return. If he can start firing again we'll be in decent shape, but today was worrying. Hopefully it's just a matter of needing a few matches after returning from injury/illness.

He's inconsistent which given his sporadic playing time over the past few years is understandable. He's a frustrating player but I'd argue he's shown enough (for me at least) to be part of our squad. Every single player in our team could be upgraded to varying degrees but you wouldn't get much change from 40m to upgrade on Lamela.
How much do you think we would get for him if we sold him ?

He needs to step up his game more over the next few weeks. I don’t see us improving on him in the summer as we haven’t got the money so it’s important vital members of the squad affect games that they are rotated in for. I’d imagine he’ll start every game now, he’ll have to, so hopefully he finds his rhythm as he’s not really been at it since he came back from injury after a promising start to the season.

Play him a a striker or false 9.his best moments come from there and he won't get the ball under his feet and try to overplay. Did extremely well when covering fir Totti in this role and this is where his hype came from. His other role was a wide forward in a 433. 4231 in a 3 is completely different to a front 3. Personally think we've never used him correctly. Under any manager.

Really struggled today but so many people writing him off. He's been good this season, just needs to find some rythm and get going.

But we really need him to perform more then ever now. This is when you need those guys who have the quality, who arn't quite first eleven regulars every week, to step in and perform when injuries hit our key players.

We have strength in depth in this area, so let's see it.

That's a tough one. 2 years left on his contract, well documented injury problems...trying to be as objective as possible anywhere between 15-20m in today's market, I reckon would be a fair price.
I thought he signed a new year 5 year contract last year ?

If anyone paid £20m I’d bite their hands off. Who would I replace him with ? Someone like Brandt, yes he would cost more but he is younger and would genuinely be a contender for the first 11.

He'll be fine. He's just off rhythm at the moment. Soon enough he'll either score or provide some tasty assists.

Not as a replacement but Brandt is a baller. Would love him.

How is Lamela not a genuine contender for the first team? Someone posted you his goals, assists and appearances this season, not to shabby, no? Its almost like he’s a genuine contender for the first team.

In nearly 6 years with us he has had 2 decent spells, the first few months of this season and in 14/15. That means most of the time he is injured or pants like he was today. That isn’t a first team contender. By first team contender I mean someone you’d think of dropping Son, Ali or Eriksen for. Do you see Lamela in that category ? I think a player like Brandt is, Lamela isnt.

Brandt might be great he might not. Who knows. What you just described is a player who’s injury prone. You’ll certainly get no arguments from me there but that doesn’t mean, when he is fit, that he’s not a genuine first team contender.

Poch has favourites no doubt and he clearly finds it hard to drop players like Alli and Eriksen (and Kane obviously) but he’s let form decide who plays plenty of times when it’s down to just Lamela and Son in previous seasons and again this season with Moura in the mix.

His problem, as you’ve rightly said, is his injury record which means he doesn’t play consistently which again means he doesn’t play at a consistent level. Look at today, he’s only been out for a couple of weeks this time but he looked like he was lacking a bit of sharpness.

When lever he’s had an injury free period he’s got quite a lot of starts and has, generally, played pretty well.

That one was really frustrating, but the rest of what you said is bs
Maradona was even more one footed than Lamela, and I think he was a little bit above average
In that particular play he made the best move which was a soft cross to Llorente. But it should've been with his right foot

Terrible game today though. One of the worst games I've seen from him

For sure. Great things about Lamela are his incredible workrate and strong mentality. Wouldn't surprise me to see him put a MOTM performance this Thursday and pretty much erase his performance against Fulham.
