People currently saying he’s not good enough and get rid. But if you look at the other top 6 who actually has a better 5th choice AM/winger.

City- hard to judge their 5th but whoever mahrez b Silva they are better.

Liverpool- they really only have 3

United- it’s probably mata or sanchez

Chelsea- Hudson-Odoi or maybe Barkley pushed forward

Arsenal- don’t have 5

If you look at the big picture as a 5th choice lamela stacks up pretty well. In fact I’d say only city really have better. And 6 goals 4 assists is better than anyone bar city this season.

Personally don't think it's a coincidence his best form coincided with Eriksen being injured, I love both to bits but they get under each-others feet in my opinion. I don't have the stats only the eye test but if you made a highlight reel for Lamela his main moments are typically central.

Yeah he sure isn't a winger.

Also have to put his early season form into context. He was playing well and was our best player, but the rest of the team were all playing way below their levels.

I like Lamela but even at his best he’s isn’t close to getting in the first team if everyone else is performing.

Depends on the game, on footballing terms yeah our front quartet are better than him but when it comes to pressing, the dark arts and getting down in the shit, Lamela is awesome. I think him and Dier on the pitch vs Burnley would have made a difference and Lamela has shined in many a derby.

We lost the game but took a clever booking so Llorente didnt. A fully fit lamela has much to offer IMO

When you consider that Eriksen plays a pretty unique role, between midfield and attacking midfield, and is a nailed on starter, and that Kane plays as a centre forward, and is a nailed on starter, there are only ever 2, sometimes 1, AM positions up for grabs. These are being competed for by Son, Dele, Lucas and Lamela. That is an amazing selection of options, made even better by the fact that Llorente has stepped up and done well as Kane back up.

Lamela flourishes when he’s alongside Kane, Alli, Eriksen and Son. Unfortunately they’ve all missed chunks of games and rarely featured together this season. It’s not just Lamela that has struggled in their absence so it’s unfair to be over critical of him. You can say however that if he wants to be a starter then he should have stepped up to the plate and not been found wanting. It just shows that we lack strength in-depth in key areas when we’re missing more than one of our key attacking players... the stand ins can’t replicate the quality, consistency and fluidity the aforementioned players share between them.

Say that again please after tonight’s performance. The excuses get more convoluted. People just need to accept he isn’t good enough for Spurs.

Everyone flourishes playing with that lot. I want players who can flourish on their own, and lift others around them. Lamela isn't it imo.

We won't even pay going rates for starting midfielders or fullbacks. We sure as shit aren't going to pay big bucks for 4th & 5th string AM options. To me upgrading Lamela & Lucas comes like 5th or 6th on the list of needs. Something to look for but not something we should focus on with our limited funds.

As if he was the worst player in our attack. At least he actually tried. Kane spent more time getting into arguments then kicking a ball and the less we say about Son, Eriksen and Lucas the better.
