Comparing Lamela to Anderton is insulting to Dazza imo.
In terms of talent, fully agree, in terms of time on the injury table I am not so sure IMO :)
Even then I think Dazza has him beat for spending less time out.

One is a bonafide club legend who has made the most appearances of any player in the premier league era.
The other is Lamela

Talking about Lamela and his constant unavailability anyone else think Winks is another brittle player.

Yep. Been out more than lamela as far as I can tell

I admired Lamela's skill set from the time he was at RP.
I was excited at the prospect of him coming to Spurs from Roma.
Unfortunately, he arrived here hurt yet he tried to play through it & prove his worth to the Club / fans given his high price tag.
His injury worsened & consequently he spent more time out & struggled when coming back.
This may have contributed to many fans' negative perception of him having not seen him play at River or Roma
First impressions & all that.

But that may be what could be clouding my judgement of him as my first impressions were much different.
For that reason, I'm a big supporter of his.

There's quite a player in there & very few of our players have his field sense, tenacity, vision, & ability on the ball.
He picks out a pass better than anyone else we have up front.
And, most importantly, Poch has been very loyal to him for a reason. He epitomizes the type of player Poch wants.

He brings so much to the table BUT you also have to be able to get to the table.

Sadly, given this time of year & short of another resurrection, I'm willing to let him go (if Poch does).

Seriously what's going on with him? Since he signed for us he's missed the following games each season:

25
7
5
38
22
16

A total of 113 games out injured!

2 full seasons and 2 half seasons pretty much in the space of 6 years. Roughly 113 games out injured across 6 years with the number sure to rise as we still don't know when he's going to be back! How on earth did we reward him with a new contract worth a rumoured £100k per week until 2022???

Sorry but we keep giving him & more importantly his body chance after chance and it's taking up a crucial position in our squad.

Did his hamstring in the warm up last week against City apparently. For me that's as close to the last straw as you can get as history will tell us he'll probably continue to miss large chunks of seasons moving forward. A shame but maybe a less intense League is better for him now.

That’s pathetic

I love him but even I can acknowledge that perhaps it's time he moved on - he just can't stay fit. Still hoping he can overcome the injuries because there is a wonderful player in there somewhere.

Like or dislike is a total irrelevance
We are not rolling in money like some of our peers so we must maximise our financial clout
Any player that is not earning his keep is a negative and we cannot afford any player that is a drain on our finances.

Worth noting he contributed well at the start of the season, and I was happy when he signed the extension, but if he isn't fit for the next two games we will have to cut our losses if possible. Just far to unreliable.

I'd imagine there'd still be some interest in Italy.

The trust that he can be a season long player for us has gone.
He could get 10 in the first 10 but you will always be waiting for him to miss the rest of the season.

I do wonder if the medical team failed to pick up on something chronic. The fact we rarely get any really definitive reason why he's out and that he's often out for what seems a long time for a small injury makes me think he's broken on the same level as Ledders (if not the knee)

Really sad how things are working out at present. When fit and on form he's possibly my favourite player (not saying he's our best). Love his combination of tenacity, poise and shithousery. Looked great at the start of the season too.

My worry is no one will want him except at a giveaway price.

Poch's comments suggest that it's another serious injury, or at least out until the end of the season. I was always fulling in the Lamela camp, even during his last long injury and thought my faith was getting repaid after the start he had to this season, but it's obvious now that its time to sell up (if we can), if we cant rely on him at all throughout the season to be fit when we really need him then we should probably look to upgrade.

EDIT: Poch's comments btw were - And suggested Erik Lamela's injury is serious, saying: 'Him, his family, us, the club, everyone – we feel very sad about his situation'. '

I feel bad for him, seems to be another serious injury. I understand that people wants us to sell him but I don’t understand why people are so against him and angry at him. Do you think he wants to be injured?

I love Lamela and always will because he’s always given us his all on the pitch and his mentality is exactly what we need, he doesn’t fear anyone and thinks we can compete on the elite level

Bloody gemgem!!!! Why don't we leave footballing decisions in Poch's hands and see where Coco's situation ends???? And stop battering players being injured. As if el Coco has been the only player out for a long time... pfffft.

Sounds like he’s in a bad way from poch’s words today. Not good for him or for his chances of being moved on in the summer. I wonder if it’s a recurrence of his previous hamstring problems.

I got shot down when I posted before that we made a bad mistake giving him a new contract. He is totally unreliable because of his injuries.

I can see a situation arising where he is released on free/contract cancelled or whatever is the most cost-effective.
I'm not sure how these things work?
