Come on chaps i support all Spurs players and love a bit of Lamela but in terms of who has contributed more out of Coco and Dele there is only winner and i think you would be hard pushed to find any 'professionals' in the game who would agree that Lamela has done more in a Spurs shirt than Dele, it seems to be the flavour of the season to slate Dele, he hasnt been his best at all this season and has frustrated the life out of me but out of the two there is only one that i can see heading to the top of the game and its not Coco.

Either way i dont like how we seem to pitt our favourite players off against each other they are all Yids and im buzzing to get Lamela back into the side he does a lot of things well that we have been lacking in far too many matches this season and can only be a positive for the squad.

MoPo saying at his presser that it's up to Lamela when he gets back into contention for the first team.

I'm not sure how literally Poch meant this. Not likely he's waiting for Lamela to say, "Ok boss, I'm good to go." More likely I suppose that Poch just meant it's up to him to show it in training and get himself selected.

Probably a bit of both. Obviously everyone needs to apply themselves in training but I also think Poch is waiting for Lamela to say "Boss I'm good to go, I'm now off the crack".

“We are waiting because now it is on him,” Pochettino said. “It is up to him to get the right feeling to say: ‘I am here, I am available if you want, gaffer.’ That is now all that we are waiting for. He is training, doing well and now, after one year, it is about how he is feeling.”

According to Pochettino a decision on whether to include Lamela in the squad to face West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at Wembley on Saturday has yet to be made.

“I don’t know [if he will be selected],” Pocchetino said. “We have another training session tomorrow so we are waiting. It’s a small chance, maybe we will decide to play him in the under 23s again, but we need to wait until tomorrow.

“We have a lot of games now: Saturday, Tuesday then the weekend again. We’ll see. I hope it is going well with him in his mind and that he is ready to play.”

More from Poch on Erik and why pace isn't everything, its more important to have players who are good one on one

Interesting stuff - seems like Poch sees the same qualities in Lamela that many of us do - his intelligence around the box is vital against the bus-parkers.

Also interesting on GKN - effectively saying he simply isn’t good enough - as he has unfortunately looked like proving when he has made appearances.

Maybe we should stop punting on bargain basement Ligue 1 players. He’s done it with N’jie, N koudou and even Stambouli when he joined. Not a good hit rate

Totally agree but we don, t have the money, Yet, to buy the ready made star. Or attract them with top wages.
Time will come when we can until then we have totry this cheaper method and hope we unearth the new Sane type.

Some work out (Kante, Mahrez) some don't. These are the sort of players that people have moaned about us not taking a punt on before they get good.

But ours don’t though, which is think is the point.

His point was that we should stop doing it, I don't agree, we just need to improve our scouting in that department as it's clearly not perfect. Player acquisitions and buying players with huge upsides before our rivals do is a way to stay competitive without spending silly money.

Can’t believe the Lamela before Dele chat. Lamela has become our Wilshere, the longer he’s been out injured the better player he’s become. Once fit he’ll be amazing, just what we need blah blah blah. I want him back but he’d struggle to get past a place on the bench given out fit starting 11 now imo

Ok fair enough, I agree with that. There is clearly something wrong with our scouting department though. Whether that’s too many changes or too many people involved in the recruitment process I’m not sure.

Something is amiss though. We’re good at identifying British talent, but when it comes to younger players from foreign leagues it’s very poor.

As for signing strikers, don’t get me started :)

I personally can't believe Poch is talking about missing Lamela's qualities. What does he know, eh?

It’s bonkers, but this is the Lamela thread remember so anything goes.

If Lamela was playing the best he’s played for us ( for about two months in his entire career with us) and Dele continued to play as poor as he has been then you could make a case to leave him out.

You could make just as convincing case not to though and it’s debatable whether Lamela will even be close to the player he was before he was injured. He’s much more likely to be the player he was for the first two seasons.

He’s an option with different qualities I’ll admit that but you should also hear the shit Wenger says about Wilshere but he’s never a starter in the big games, Poch is just bigging his player up imo
