In fact I don’t even think we need any attacking players. With moura added we have the full different type of attackers in our ranks now.

More a concern is the FBs and CM positions

We are all entitled to our opinion, and wonder if your response is really objective.
Malcolm is probably more talented, but that doesnt make him necessarily the best fit for our squad dynamics. Think that fact that Lamela is so committed regardless if he starting regardly or if he's been reduced to a bit part, makes him invaluable as a squad option/spot starter.

I like Lamela, but believe he is expendable. He plays in almost similar position to Pjanic, alright, slightly different. But where we are now, he has to be giving more than being committed. When he came in for example, what threat did he offer? Now criticism, but observation. Poch has to make difficult decisions, and I am not talking about Sissoko for example, as he is a different type of player. Not that I rate him mind you.

I just question if at his age, taking into account his serious challenges he has overcome. Can he take us to the next level? I personally am not sure.

I like Lamela and how he has the ability to control the ball, stop in his tracks and assess his surroundings before making a positive pass. This is great and all but in the English game you just don’t get the time to do this too often and this is where Lamela falls short... he lacks the quick interchange and control of Eriksen and can ala Dembele hamper our attacks. He’s much better suited to both Italian and Spanish football. He comes across as a lovely guy and works hard for the team but he’s just not suited to the English game.

his pre-injury record and performance coupled with mentality suggest yes

I totally get want you are saying, and there a couple players that we need to make tough desicions on imo. Lamela, Trippier, Winks and even Dier are all players that you have to wonder if you take the chance to improve upon.

For me it would be tough to get rid of any of these lads. Mostly because they are all players that add important footballing qualities to the squad, as well their have the professional attitudes that suit or squad. That you wonder if a player with the massive personal ambitiions that malcom has, if he can mesh well with the squad.

Idk that's Poch's call, but all I know if Lamela signed an extenion tomorrow I would be extremely chuffed and not that disippointed at all.

Without getting the bed-wetters ‘Lamela fan club’ out, please take my question in the context I mean it constructively.

Would he get into Yanited, citeh, Liverpuddle? Can this be answered without blinkers please. Enthusiasm, and energy is one thing, but have we moved on? Is he a game changer? Because these are the questions I personally believe he has to answer.
Into what? into the squad or first XI?? He would def get into Liverpool's squad and maybe Utd.

Why does he need to be a game changer?

Let's see the top 6 non starting AMs
MU: Lingard?
Lpool: Woodburn?, Lallana? Wijnaldum? Ox?
Chelsea: Barkley?
Arsenal: Iwobi? Maitland?

WALOB - Dele did more in half a season than Lamela’s done in 4 years at spurs. Dele is 21 years old FFS.

Lamela wouldn’t get in any of the top 6 teams starting 11
And Dele would?
I agree about the rest that you've said. But right now I don't think Dele would get into any of the top 6 teams starting XI either. Last season he offered goals. I don't know what he offers right now. I'm not asking for him to be sold or anything, and I do rate him. But I do wonder why you demand our sub to be in on of the top 6 starting XI to judge if he's good enough, when even 1 of our starters doesn't comply with that demand.

Lamela over Malcom says it all really.
It's a team game, and imo it's best to have different kind of players in order to have tools for every system we want to play. What does Malcom bring that Lucas or Son doesn't already have?? That's the better question imo.
We all know what Lamela can bring that's different from those 2.

If he goes back to Italy he’ll tear it up.

Unfortunately Lamela's final pass or shot invariably doesn't find it's target. Yes he works hard/tracks back but for me that final magic moment from him is elusive.

Sorry, but I don't trust stats
The assist numbers depend entirely on the striker. Eriksen appears to have 1 less assist but he has a much bigger influence in our play and our chances. You take Eriksen out of the team, and we really feel it. You take Alli out and I don't see what we miss.
Be honest and tell me when's the last time you felt we really needed Alli in the pitch (assuming he didn't start).
Whenever we play our reserve side we ask for players like Eriksen, Son to step in, not Alli.

What the hell has malcom done to come out with such am arrogant response? he's a total unknown quality, and he's playing in a shite league. In which his stats aren't any more impressive than current Dele who is of similar age and Dele is being crucified each week.
Frankly the kid could be total trash in the Premier League were as our manager routinely involves Lamela in games over lucas, Son and Sissoko . Has he even failed to not come on as at least a sub since returning

You're probably one of the jokers who were crowing in the summer about Aurier being an upgrade on Walker without having seen him play no more than 3 games.
French league isn't even broadcast anywhere here so unless you're going out of your way to find obscure bordeux streams which likely clash with our matches, then rating malcom as superior to anyone In our squad is frankly bullshit
You might as well just be looking at his fifa stats and saying oh, well he must be better. He's 84 and lamela is 81

Jesus wept at all the bullshit coming out after losing to Juventus

Doesn't matter what you trust. You asked what he offers. He's 5th in assists in the league. You really don't think he would get in the starting 11 of any of the top 6? Nonsense.

Put them both up for sale tomorrow, which one has every major team in Europe competing in an auction ? Which one gets the higher price ?

Seriously some of the criticism of Dele on this site is just ridiculous.
Alli surely.
No one wants to sell him though. But he was brought up into the discussion because some are demanding things of Lamela, that even a starter like Alli doesn't offer. Or at least that's why I brought him up

And Pascal Gross is also 5th with Glen fucking Murray as a striker. He must also get into the starting 11 of any of the top 6 too

MC, Chelsea and Lpool play 3 up front. He wouldn't start in either. Man U have Mata who's more apt for the role. The only with 3 Am is Arsenal. Would he get ahead of Ozil? I doubt it
