He's been out for so long I'm not convinced he'll come back the same player, I hope that isn't the case.

Lamela evokes some very powerful thoughts in me.

Luke Shaw, was Pochs golden boy at Southampton, now seemingly a perma-croc. Instead of looking what excessive intensity training/playing (potentially) does to joint/muscle/tissue, he is instead questioned in his psychology. My feeling is he trained to a level beyond that which his body could maintain, to please Poch, this led to deficiencies which hamper recovery IMO.

Lamela was Pochs 'extension of his own attitude on the pitch', leading the press. Now instead of applauding that drive and reflecting that just maybe this same dynamic is at play here with Spurs, no, lets instead say it's Lamelas poor psychological mindset.

Previously I've tried to explain about metabolic residues but nobody seems interested in that as it undermines Pochs philosophy.

I understand Hercules is ITK, but I believe I know better than the clubs collective mindset on this topic (as it's basis is in denying a problem which is clear to see IMO).
I dont think this is the case. Lamela with his lean body mass and low fat percentage combined with his age was probably the player most physically suited to Pochs system. He also was never over played like say a Harry Kane, who I think is far more likely to of had the metabolic issues you suggest. However like any job, players will handle the mental stress differerently which can have a physical effect but lets not suggest this without details.

Ok imagination working overtime as we've all done a bit on this. But wonder if some kind of mystery hip injury in its early stages could have led to a problem with pain killers.wouldnt be first sports person to go down that road. Then hip was finally diagnosed, but developed some addiction.Anyhow who knows, but Sounds there was more to it than just the injury.hopefully he will return same player, but personally I'll be astonished if that happens.

There is something more to this injury than meets the eye, staying the obvious I know. Whether it be psychological or physiological I just want to see him in a spurs shirt hustling his bollocks off again. We'll never know the ins and outs, but his commitment to us when he's been fit has never been in doubt and for that he deserves full support.

I think you need to remember a big reason he's been out so long is we waited months for him to get fit on his own before finally deciding surgery was needed. If he"d had surgery at the start in all likelihood he'd have been back ages ago.

For the second (or third) time.........If people are going to persist with this drug stuff then they'll be banned or the thread will be locked. But banned is my personal favourite and therefore most likely, so please can we stop it with all of that now?

I'm pulling for the guy. I really am. If he reintegrates back into the first team in January, I'm fine with that. Having both him and Barkley come in at January will be two huge boosts to the squad.
Before Lamela was injured last season, I actually thought he looked like our most consistent player on the field. Really hope he can turn it around and overcome the injury.

"Last I heard (from the training ground) was that he was doing outdoor training now after his gym/pool rehab had been a success. So I would be surprised if this story had any truth in it."

I like Lamela but not sure what he has done at Tottenham to command the love and allocades a lot of other Tottenham fans have for him.

I just hope for the lad he gets fit, physically and mentally and gets his career back on track, I would like that to be with us but not sure it will be.

Bust his bollocks every time he played maybe. Only remember a few games when he was off

once a player pulls on the Spurs top, I love them, and will always love them until they leave or disrespect the club.

and if they track back and hound opposition players like Lamela does, I'll love them even more.

However hard he works there's no denying he's never really had a consistent period where you could really say he was success.Without question has shone in moments but it's never really been maintained. And his goal return has been disappointing considering he was 1 in3 at Roma.Saying that Eriksen has only really gone to the next level in last 6 months or so.But Hopefully he can come back stronger and prove many wrong.

Yes, there absolutely is denying that - because it's a completely bollocks assertion pedaled by people who steadfastly refuse to take note of anything other than goals. He was an integral member of our first 11 in 2015/16 and played his part in his fair share of goals, especially in the Europa League.

Our fans, though, have distorted memories and have decided that, due to his being injured for so long, they will only remember him as the player he was in his first season for us which was undoubtedly disappointing.

He shouldn't have to "prove many wrong" - he should be supported and not contesting with the number of poisonous Spurs supporters that have cast aspersions on the nature of his injury, his ability when he was in-form for us and his mental health.

His guile, skill, eye for a pass (and ability to execute it), energy in the press, passion that clearly seeped out of every por whilt playing against L'Arse... I for one cannot wait for him to be back in the 1st team squad. A very much underrated player!
