I think we would be bonkers to not offer him a new contract (or activate an extension)

Before his lay off, I thought he was good but not great, I think the same now but he has returned with something else, he now has bigger balls.

A player you want in your team when you are losing.

I think it all comes down to how much we pay him and how much game time he expects to get. Football is a squad game and to suggest Lamela isn't even good enough to be in the squad as an option for us is crazy. I can't think of any player we could aquire for a low enough fee that would be better than Lamela but that's just my oppinion ofc.

Strange game for him yesterday. Thought he was generally terrible. Appalling first touch and decision making. But then he scored two and was heavily involved in another. Sign of a good player when they can still be so influential despite being way short of their best.

The problem Lamela has is that he needs a run of games so that we know one way or another if he is always going to be inconsistent. But I can't see him ever dislodging Eriksen or Alli as a regular and it's clear that Poch wants a different kind of player as the third option behind Kane.

I'd personally like to see him stay at the club as a squad player. But for his own sake he should be looking to move on I think.

I like Lamela and for the most part think he has been a good player for us.

At the beginning of last season when he scored that header against Everton I thought he was destined to have a great season.

He has mostly impressed on his return but there’s a part of me that thinks he isn’t going to reach his ceiling here.

We have Eriksen, Alli, Son, Moura and Lamela. Still we often seem to lack creativity.

If we are to bring in a new attacking mid then Lamela seems the most likely to go.

Love Lamela and I want us to keep him. But if we were to sell him I would understand considering injuries etc.

  1. Lamela is not rubbish, he is very talented and great when relying on instinct, but much like Dele he often fails to be decisive when afforded space and time. The difference is that Dele has far greater tangible output, if Lamela can address this then we have two very good options for the ‘spare’ goalscoring AM.
  2. Lamela has lost as many full seasons in his 5 as Anderson did in 10. If Daz was a sick note then Erik has a wing named after him at old St. Ann’s.
  3. Lamela should be entering his prime. So far he has shown only that he could be worth persisting with. If there is an opportunity to sign a top class AM this summer, then Lamela is the one our of current collection who is clearly expendable.
  4. Lamela has an excellent attitude and brings a fight that we could do with more of in our squad. If he is still here next season then he is useful and, should he stay fit, could have a very positive impact.

He stays, end off!!

I am saying this as someone who has willed him to succeed over the last few years, he is the player most vulnerable to upgrading. For me it's come to the last month or two hoping he does well to prove he's back, he's fit, and we can get a good amount of money for him. I'd love to see him go on and have a proper career after teh injuries.

We need to be ruthless this summer and if we want a Bale/Martial/Malcom/Zaha etc then we can't afford to be sentimental.

Sell Lamela.

One good game, three gone missing . Then disappears for half a season. Remember there was some talk in the past with not his physical injury, but more to overcome his mental block.

We need more game changers and match winners, and don’t see Lamela having any more upside than where he is now.

I love lamela's drive, enthusiasm and tenacity but he does need to show more end product. He has a great football brain and he needs to show it more with more goals and creating more opportunities for our other attacking players.

A whole year off and he is has played around 750 minutes in the league this year. I believe with a proper off-season that the kid will be an integral part to our bench. He is the perfect sub to harass a side at the later stages of the game and he is a great rotation player.

If he gets back to his 2015-2016 form, he will be a great asset to have.

If we could train everyone of our players to run like Lamela we would be unstoppable. Kid just doesn't stop sprinting.

Oh the horror. What an injustice. How will they win a game without The Mighty Erik Lamela. He of the high press, with great end product, incisive passing, the range of passing which is unsurpassed in the Argentina squad. Why cant the manager see what others on here can clearly see.

Well that makes me and the Argentina manager i suppose.
