Wow, this thread is something else... Very talented player, technically one of our best. Runs his heart out every time he is on the pitch and winds up guys like wheelchair and still people on here label him useless...? Useless = Sissoko, get your references right.

Lamela is a mixed bag. Like his work rate and its obvious he can handle the ball.
But alot of times he is very ineffective and even though he puts in the work the outcome is just....meh.

That said I definitely want to keep him. He can regain his form from a couple seasons ago and we need players like him in the squad.

Oh the horror. What an injustice. How will they win a game without The Mighty Erik Lamela. He of the high press, with great end product, incisive passing, the range of passing which is unsurpassed in the Argentina squad. Why cant the manager see what others on here can clearly see.

Well that makes me and the Argentina manager i suppose.

Lol, the Lamela hate is strong in this one.

I would be so upset if I were you right now. Lamela not making the WC only means he will be having a proper off-season and a full pre-season under Poch, which will only enhance his chances of becoming a regular starter for Spurs next season.

He had a poor first half and now everyone wants him gone. In case it went over your collective heads, we would have ended up 4th instead of 3rd if it was not for him, especially when we were losing the game because our defence played crap. But single out Lamela for a poor performance when others were more culpable if it makes you feel better. I despair

You mean the team I said would cope without Coutinho. You mean the team I said would improve defensively having bought Vvd. You mean the team that conceded 2 less than us. You mean that team which is in a CL final.

Jurgen there's nothing wrong with acknowledging what other teams do well. Btw... I said we'd finish above the dippers and whilst we at it FINISHING 4TH AND BEING IN THE CL FINAL is a greater accomplishment i think. Im sure if the roles were reversed WE would all be celebrating that feat.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I commend him for a great match on Sunday.

No way known is he getting into an Argentina front four when they have to fit Messi/Aguero/Higuain/Dybala/Di Maria/Icardi

If he stays next season Lamela needs to be scoring 10 goals minimum with a good number of assists ie Son Level

That really is petty. He has come back from 2 major surgeries. Even Messi would not get a call up if the roles were reversed.

And then you imply you have the same vision and expertise as the Argentinian Manager?

You really are delusional.

I get the sentiment, but your comparison is a huge stretch. Messi 100% gets a World Cup call-up if relatively fit.

You want to check your working on those defensive statistics mate.

Argentina have been generally poor, particularly in comparison to their own high standards, without him.

Dybala has been in and out of the team in recent months, and he's one of the best players in Serie A (if not the best)...

Glad he isnt going to the WC, would rather he get a full preseason under his belt (and with others rested after the WC, it should give him the chance to step up as our main player in a few of our friendlies)

Tbh we’ve got enough going to World Cup. Along with city probably most of top 6. Players like moura Lamela wanyama winks could be crucial at start of next season.
