He's not going to be the replacement though. It's between Enzo Perez, Pablo Perez, Pizarro and Paredes according to the journos here. I think Enzo Perez is the likely choice

Good news.

We don’t want to push Lamela to hard so having a couple months off and then being ready to push hard in preseason will be far more beneficial to him and us than going Russia and sitting on the bench

Big season for Lamela.

I have no doubts about his ability to assist but would love him to score more. Lamela has tremendous work rate when fully fit imo on form his in my strongest 11.

I really like him as a player, but this is a big season if he is still here after the summer.

The last match of the season showed what he can do ghosting into the box.

This would leave the door open for both Lamela and Lucas to start having significantly more gametime and having a fairer shot to compete with Son and Dele for a place in the starting 11.

It seems likely that Eriksen will drop deeper, but not into a pivot with Dier/Wanyama.

Instead we will probably see a 433 or 352, with Eriksen and a partner playing in front of Dier/Wanyama.

His ability to pick a pass would be good against lesser teams that are going to just sit deep and soak us up. Would also like to see Eriksen dropped deeper in those games to make space for extra attacking players in those games

I was thinking Eriksen, but concerned we would lose his ability to score from range coming from deeper. Lamela long distance shooting means I would be happier him coming from deep and dictating from deeper

Yes, the respective levels of ability within the two squads is definitely like-for-like.
