Think the interview with spursofficial spoke volumes,

was interrupted by dembele praising his desire and mentality

Looks faster and more powerful, running at speed, beating his man, and scoring goals. Could he be becoming the player his detractors always said he couldn't be?
I'm fairly certain that's the player he was at Roma (not that I'd seen any of him there).

I've always loved the bloke. Did he make his comeback in the NLD last year? His approach to the game was summed up in that match - comes on as a sub and with his first touch dinks a bouncing ball over their defence to put (I think) Dele in 1 on 1. A true Spurs player.

66% voted that they’ve always rated Lamela lol people need to stop lying
I’ve always backed Lamela, remember watching him before joining Roma, the player he is today is the complete opposite of the player he used to be

And now all of a sudden everyone is a Lamela fan.... football fans are thick they will only like a player if he performs.

Looking forward to the people who says KWP or Onomah isn’t good enough will say in a couple of years

Lamela's celebration was funny - it was like a half hearted Cristiano celebration - that trademark jump etc

He was on his way to do it then thought better of it but by then it was too late - ended up being funny hah a

He's always been generally popular, just like anything else, people that hated him were a overly vocal minority of saddo's

Agree with this. A lot of people have always had time for Lamela, but the ones that don't always shout the loudest.

You can apply the same theory to football crowds in grounds..if 30-40 boo, you notice and it outdoes 1000's of cheers.

Always rated him and had high hopes. Did have a concern things might not work out for him but never doubted his ability or attitude.

It's the same Erik that we always see after a run of games.

Sadly fitness hasn't allowed us to see too many runs of games.

Think he rescued it with the thumbs pointing to his name, that was a nice touch. Aside from that, yeah, Ronaldo.

I’ve akways thought Lamela had talent, I also admit that there was a time I’d lost faith in his ability to maximise it. I’m delighted to see the player he is becoming, and it’s far from the player I expected him to be when we signed him, it’s better.

The way Lamela is currently playing, he reminds me of Kaka. Energetic and driven, keeping the ball high up the pitch, arriving in all the spaces he’s not wanted, probing passing with purpose and conviction, scoring regularly. With him hitting this form we now have six AMs of very different styles competing for just 3 positions. We have the playmaker in Eriksen, the winger in Moura, the inside forward in Son, the second striker in Dele, the all round attacking midfielder in Lamela and EVEN the bulldozer in Sissoko.

Onomah isnt good enough, would gladly be proved wrong but he wont make the grade.

Im not going to lie and say ive always rated Lamela because at times in his first couple of seasons (especially) he was seriously frustrating, seemed slow and made bad decisions and rarely had any end product. Thats not to say I completely wrote him off, but if he can carry on the form he is in at the moment, we have a player on our hands. He is now producing end product, and also playing in a more mature and decisive way. He also seems stronger and faster when running with the ball, he has showed that few times recently.

I honestly always have rated him but I still maintain that he's too injury prone to have an immense season for us, he's been out for a total of nearly 2 years so far.

Hopefully I'm proven wrong though, maybe he's just been unlucky but some players just never seem to be able to stay fit for an entire season.

Never a doubt in my mind.
If he stays fit (and the other AMs) we've got serious talent in that area.
Still need a CM though

That little jump he does with his arms by his side is his usual celebration

Here's a really over-edited example

Edit: Seriously though, who the fuck makes these videos. Just show me the goal, none of this shite action editing stuff

There are very few of us that can claim to have backed Lamela for his whole time here (I absolutely have, and nobody will be able to find proof to the contrary - even the mandem in the COYS WhatsApp chats I'm in). Some of the stick he's received has been genuinely gross and some normally level-headed posters became absolute twats when discussing Lamela a while back. Seems to have settled now, with some accepting that he doesn't have to score 100 in a season to be a good player.
