There are very few of us that can claim to have backed Lamela for his whole time here (I absolutely have, and nobody will be able to find proof to the contrary - even the mandem in the COYS WhatsApp chats I'm in). Some of the stick he's received has been genuinely gross and some normally level-headed posters became absolute twats when discussing Lamela a while back. Seems to have settled now, with some accepting that he doesn't have to score 100 in a season to be a good player.
This thread was a fucking disgrace for the longest time with posters making up bogus rumours about his absence. The baseless disdain for Lamela drove them to slanderous statements. Only those of us in the very small minority have ever always supported Lamela.

Fans behaviour towards Lamela was some of the lowest moments as a supporter of this club. Frustratingly you know those type of fans haven't learned anything from their overreaction. Even saw a few of them starting to give the same treatment to Kane and Winks recently.

I mean people on here thought Grealish was going to be a better option. Says it all really.

Find it strange how some supporters are saying his finally showing up on twitter etc, if I remember he was class in the 2015–16 season as well

It's a shame Sir Gibbs of Francis and @zoneD disappeared...
I know this is bit of a meme atm, but Im seriously happy @zoneD has fucked off, one of the most miserable souls ive ever had the displeasure of interacting with.

As for good ol' gibby I feel a little bad for him bc there was clearly a mental illness or handicap of some kind that he had to deal with. ;)

I can hand on heart say I've always been a huge fan of his and there's various posts on Spurs forums which will prove it.

I posted this on COYS in August 2016, just before he injured his hips which were to prove a horrible nasty injury which would hamper him for over a year.

I couldn't find another thread for him so I started this one.

Based on his preseason performances and his upward trajectory of improvement which he has clearly been on now for the past 18 months or so, I predict he will have an absolutely brilliant season and will cement his position as a key player and one of the first names on the team sheet.

Last season he really stepped up with goals, assists and general influence and he looked like he has stepped up a level again, he has really looked on fire, he had a good summer with Argentina and has looked class this preseason.

He is absolutely integral to our work ethic, his harrying and closing down of opponents, his ability to win the ball back, not scared to tackle. Put that together with his wand of a left foot and the fact he has the ability and vision to pick an incisive pass around the box and behind the striker, I am really excited about how he will do for us this season.

Such a transformation from the derided player he was in his first season.

P.S I fancy him to get on the score sheet at Everton away.

He actually went on to score against Everton away, getting the crucial equalizer in the 1 - 1 draw. I am really happy he is going on to prove the player I always knew he could be, now that his injury problems are hopefully behind him.

Yes, we are all in the same club. I remember you two were one of the few who shared the same sentiments as me, without any reservation, about Lamela.

Okay, I know it feels good and all, but I guess it's time to stop blowing each other's dicks. We all love him now, and that's what matters.

If he continues on this amazing form, then exciting times are ahead. I think he has proven already he has to be starting most games, I hope Pochetino won't automatically sent him back to the bench once Dele is fit again (in fact, these two playing together at their best would be a total nightmare for all of our rivals).

And me you happy-clappy ****s, I've been slavering over Coco's gorgeous cheekbones and furious pitch-charging since day one.

I've always been in the 'I'd turn gay for Lamela' club. Could always see the boy had talent, just got fucked over by injuries and needed the right manager.

Article in the StandRd where he says he can’t always train more than 80% and doesn’t know how many games he can play and his hips still have to be managed ... kind of explains why Poch hasn’t been starting him often despite his red hot form. Maybe his role will mainly be limited to an impact sub which would be a real shame.

Regarding his fitness, in the league Lamela played almost every game in Pochettinos first two seasons, and 2/3 of our games last season. His first season and fourth season were both wash outs due to quite horrific injury problems, but all in all hus record isn’t as bad as some make out. Similarly to Darren Anderton, there’s a somewhat unwarranted sicknote reputation.

As for his performances, he appears to have figured out what kind of player he is. When he first came he looked totally lost in the pace of this league. Now that seems unimaginable. Then he got up to speed but his indecisiveness meant countless positive situations were wasted. Now he seems ruthless and penetrative. Yes, he’s always had lovely technique and a great slide rule pass, but they were drowning in a sea of frustrating moments.

Also, he has added goals, and he’s scoring a variety. The composed curled pass v Liverpool, the header v West Ham, the long range bullet v Barca. Every top attacking midfielder needs to be a goal threat. Dele, Eriksen, Son and Lucas are all capable, now Lamela is too.

I don’t think I have ever been a big critic of Lamela, but I also admit that I’ve found him frustrating since he signed. The taken was always evident but I wanted more. Now he is delivering, and hopefully will all season and for many seasons. I still think he has more to offer even than this and I’m confident, injuries permitting, that he’ll get there.

I think there are plenty of members here who've rated him throughout, even during his injuries or when things on the pitch weren't quite clicking.

Not me, though. I think he's rubbish. He doesn't even put in any effort. The one thing us fans demand of any player is they at least run around a bit.

Why don't you try, Erik? TRY HARD, ERIK!

Hard / Erik. Coincidence? Who knows?

I know.

It is. Obviously it's coincidence; it's just his forename, which happens to be a slang word for a hard penis.

Where am I? What year is this!? WHO'S THE PRESIDENT!?
