Annoying that Neville was trying to suggest his goal was an error from Ederson. It was intentionally well placed around the defender and gave him no sight

Both are true. Ederson's positioning was questionable, but that certainly doesn't take away from the awareness and technique to take advantage of the error. Lamela did well today, it feels like he always shows up to play City.

Did Neville not notice the quality of the shot. Lamela curved the shot around Ederson for a top quality goal.

One of the standout players for us in a game where we were overrun. The Daily Fail had him on the same match rating as De Bruyne. He played without fear.

Eriksen on the other hand?

Newspaper player ratings a generated by the same thing as the lottery numbers though aren’t they? I remember seeing a Daily Mirror one that had not only the wrong players featured, but the wrong team too.

If he stays fit he will trouble double figures for both goals and assists. Problem is he just won't stay fit. Nice to see his corners creating goals again aswell.

Those shushing signs Lamela was making after scoring the first equalizer, I think they actually were aimed at those people here who last week were saying how Lamela shouldn't be a regular starter for Spurs, or how he doesn't scores or assist that much for us. :D

He has no fear. Against the big teams we need him to start to set the attitude. Almost the rest of the lads were just meek to begin with last night.

Regardless of the formation, he's also the only the player that will consistently press.

I hope the group press returns this season.

Ndombele has quite a bit of cardio work to do before we can full press a team consistently.

If he stays fit he’s incredibly useful and likely to start 2/3 of our matches. We’ve scored five goals, he’s been directly involved in three, his intensity is incredible and he only cares about getting the ball and finding the best route to the opposition goal. I’d love to see a three behind Kane of him, Son and Lucas. What we may lose in Eriksen’s precision or Dele’s ghosting we’d more than make up in turning over play high up with Kane, Son and Lucas in dangerous amounts of space.

What space would those players be in, exactly? Most of our games, we're up against a ten-man low block.

I really enjoy what Lamela brings and I'm please he's finally being used in those central positions where he is most dangerous, he doesn't have the passing capability of the playmaking number 10 which is slowly dying out of the game but hopefully we can solve that by having midfielders with better passing range. He also gives us tremendous flexibility to switch from a front 3 with him out wide to then playing centrally behind two forwards as well as in the hole in 4-2-3-1. Really hope he can keep this up. His spot to lose atm and would be the last attacking name I'd drop off the teamsheet atm.

There's a reason why Poch has persisted with him.

If he stays fit he is incredibly useful. Not an A lister but very, very useful.

Fearless? Of course.

The space is the because you’ve won the ball high up the pitch. See our entire 16/17 season for evidence of this.

That system had two creators playing centrally behind Kane, with Eriksen and Dele. The width then came from the two best wingbacks in the league. We then had the two best wingbacks in the league to help us stretch teams, and an incredibly solid midfield that allowed them to push on.

We can't replicate that with our current personnel.

He was shushing me. Ndombele wagged his finger too and gave a cheeky wink.
