After the revilation that Lamela is on our fabled transfer list for this summer, with the understanding it would push our limit if we decided to do it, I think it's a transfer that makes a lot of sense to me. Even if his price is north of 25 mil, as long as its not over 30, it could be the perfect signing. Ok, he is one of the big young world talents so is obviously a very good player, but apart from that he could perfectly complete our interchanging top three with Bale and Villa and more importantly, in some ways, is one of the few players who could take over from Bale when he goes as they have quite a similar skill set. It would make much more sense to bring him in now to adjust to the league and avoid the envitable price hike that will come when we sell Bale for redonk-a-million. I obviously hope we don't sell Bale but it feels like its going to come at some point so we should plan for it.

I agree it makes sense being that hes similar to Bale but levy will see it as an unecessary purchase atm as we still have Bale! I think we need someone to play that wide left position in the 4-3-3 like most fans but I dont think it will be Lamela sadly :(

But where will the money come from?

We are spending £17m on Paulinho, £11m on Villa and a further £25m on Lamela?

£53m? We'd have to clear out a few.

I am sure we will regardless of who we bring in. I am not sure but if the ITK about his being one of the players on our list is true then there must be some understanding of the price. Levy etc will know more about the reality of this transfer then us. Just his presence on that list for me is a great sign as it signifies that we are looking for that sort of player and are potentially willing to spend a bit in bringing the right talent in.

Don't think so. I believe the only time I've heard Lamela mentioned is Grey Fox and Spurvert mentioned him awhile go but I think Spurvert's frowned upon.

See, that's where you are wrong. There is not less income, at least not for someone like River. The television rights where the same. The ticket prices were the same.
And in fact, the season River was in the second division, the stadium was 100% full the 19 home games, so in fact they recieved more than what they got the season before in the first division.

I know this because I'm from Buenos Aires, I'm a River fan and have family contacts inside the club
Ossie is lanzini roma bound he looks like some player,
Do u think Eder Balanta would b worth a shout for lb & a 5th cb, I do I think he's a real star in the making he must easily b as quick as lennon

Lanzini is not leaving, and I don't think he's ready to move either.

Balanta has only about 7 or 8 professional games so far. He's very highly rated. I'd say he's the hottest property in the league at the moment. It would take a least +15m to sign him. He's not good as a LB, but playing as a left CB, he's the best young CB I've seen in a very long time. I'd say he's good enough to start for almost all the teams in the league. AC Milan already had a bid of 10m euros turned down when he had only played 3 games. That should give you an idea of how good he is.

I got told AVB has £40m plus what we sell so that is achievable. Quite where this £40m comes from I don't know..........the new TV deal partly I guess

If we can find a buyer, then I'd expect this lot to be on their way

Livermore
Huddlestone
Parker
Adebayor
Naughton

This could raise anything between £10m - £20m

I think that will be closer to £20m and it might be Defoe instead of Ade. I also think we have to sell one of either BAE or Rose. Rose has said he won't come to sit on the bench and with his stock in - it's crunch time there. So I think we could achieve another £6m on top (and keep Naughton for backup - just makes financial sense and he isn't moaning at the moment either).

To round that out, say we bring in £25m in sales and spend £53m. That's £28m of our reported £40m spent. We then have £12m for a new left back if BAE isn't up to it and if we did go down the route of spending £12m+ on a left back, I'd expect BAE would be sold as well, taking the kitty into £20m territory and dare I say it, Leighton Baines range...

Paulinho, Lamela, Villa and Baines.

It never happens. Levy aims to get maximum income from sales so we hardly ever have mass clear outs as buyers don't want to pay the prices.

Everyone seems to think about sales as an easy way to raise money but in reality it's just as hard to sell a player as it is to buy one.

Not sold on Lamela being right for us, much like i'm not sold on Paulinho being the right fit either. Lamela is a little too like Bale, more direct than crafty. I'd prefer us to bring in a player who is a bit of a wildcard for when we are struggling to break teams down, a player who can beat a man with an outrageous bit of skill and can unlock defences with passes.

Wasn't there a Roma supporter lurking around who categorically wrote off Lamela being sold. I know it's just a fan saying it, but he seemed adamant that he wouldn't be following Baldini to Spurs.
