According to th BBC that was our 3Rd consecutive penalty miss against city.

Defoe -> Bobby -> Lamela

Eriksen should take pens in kanes absence but perhaps Erik and son are the only ones confident to step up.

Overall good performance from him and everyone else over 90. Anyone complaining and singling out individuals after that game is just a sad old **** tbh

Not a great performance, stupid penalty, and could be in a bit of trouble if it turns out he took duties away from Son.

No point defending him when he's been below his own standards lately - you don't want to show yourself as blind as the idiots who criticise him every week for absolutely nothing.

He's no more wasteful than Son or Eriksen or Sissoko, and his work rate is exceptional. In Poch's system, he is a god send.

It is a shame he doesn't have a touch more composure though at times, sometimes dithering when presented with an opening.

Surprises me the pelters he gets, especially at the game. We're a tough crowd.

Despite the fact that he wasn't very good today, it has completely destroyed this new myth that Lamela isn't first choice in his position. People have been trying to suggest for weeks that Lamela was getting dropped for Sissoko and whilst it was always obviously bollocks, today has proven it - Poch relies on him as his first choice in one of his attacking three.

no they didn't. the first came from wanyama winning the ball, the 2nd lamela picked up a loose ball after kolarov miscontrolled.

Lol...dude, whether it is a loose ball or physically winning it off the player, winning the ball is winning the ball. Lamela was in the right place at the right time and pushed the team forward for a decisive second goal.

Get off it. He missed a penalty, so has Messi believe it or not. He wanted to take it. Good on him for believing in himself.

He needs to release the ball sooner if he is going to release the ball into the midfield on a counter attack. I am certain Poch will see this and instruct.

Why does it not surprise me that the usual suspects are here jumping on him......he's done more good than bad. Give up on your crusade, it's boring and quite sad.

i guess we have differing definitions of winning the ball then and he absolutely did not win the ball for the first unless i've been mistaken all this time and lamela is actually that giant african bloke. look, i think he's an important player for us but you lot go just as far as @Francis Gibbs but in the other direction, always looking to blame others for his shortcomings whilst ridiculously hyping up any little thing he does well and you can almost guarantee that he'll be voted motm on here if he puts in a semi-decent performance, it's just silly.

He was great today as were most of our side. His work rate and closing down are fantastic and infectious

I was a little upset at the time that he wouldn't let Son take the penalty because he's on fire but I'd rather our players step up to the plate rather than shying away

Kane hit one down the middle against Joe Hart in the 2-1 win at the Etihad last season

Should never be anywhere near a penalty - I have thought he's been relatively off form lately but he was good today.

Just seen the tv highlights - wrestling the ball off Son, embarrassing !!!
Lamela already had the ball, Son tried to wrestle it off him. Son should have asked, when Lamela refused Son should not have tried to grab it off him. Regardless of who was supposed to take it, if it was Son who was due and Lamela was being stubborn then he should have kept cool and just walked off and brought it up with him after the match. I like Son but trying to grab it off Lamela was childish.

Anyway, we won, everyone including Lamela played well, there is nothing for anyone to moan about.
