Does his fee mean we don't get the 4.5m from Swansea so he is essentially circa 20m or do we still get the Siggy money?

Clever signing! Let's hope he can bag a few for us!
Think he will. Gives us options. Great hold up play; great heading ability, which will bear fruit at set pieces with oppo having to deal with Llorente, Kane (if they play at same time), Toby, Verts, Sanchez, Dier. Llorente is a clinical finisher, good with both feet and has a great scoring chance/conversion record in the PL.

Also, like Kane, doesn't let his head drop if he misses a few. I agree with others who say that, in some games, a partnership with Kane will see Kane get more space to do what he does.

Hope Kane picks up a thing or two on how to head from him; I think Kane has a very weak header when consider his size.

Also think he's gonna be at a good level for quite a bit longer than we expect...here's hope to our Luka Toni.

TBH, I thought with him coming, Janssen's will be better off leaving somewhere on loan..But since Janssen wanna stay, that makes the entire situation in some way very positive. Never hurts to have 3 CFs in a squad with so many games to play!! This season is really about giving us flexibility I guess.

Welcome Fernando! Love him already for choosing us over chelscum!

I thought the same thing re Janssen. Guess it's his own personal decision, but his game time's going to be even more limited now. We'd have more flexibility with 2 CFs and a more mobile creative AM/AF in the squad. I know that's hard to get, but we're on overload right now with our 3 CFs, among which Kane is the most mobile.

We have Lamela coming back and Edwards potentially to get some game time, and Barkley, hopefully after New Year. It'll be interesting to see what Poch does.

My only worry is whether he'll be able to chase down the opposition throughout 90 mins. I suspect he'll play mainly against deep sitting defenses and stick to the box play

With Dele out for the first 3 CL games, I wonder if we'll see something like this. Having Kane play off Llorente would be interesting to see and with Fernando's CL experience we can get off to a good start.

He's a good footballer as well as being a physical threat. Hopefully he stays fit and gives us some crucial goals.

So do we actually have official word on his injury? Has he trained at all with Swansea, and is it likely he could be available at all this month?

I don't expect to see him playing 90 mins. What I do expect is Llorente coming off the bench and the opposition having a whole load of new problems to deal with, whereas with Janssen coming on they expected a bit of an easier ride.

Similar to how real Madrid play with
.........isco..........
....benzema... Ronaldo

And you see how much Ronaldo benefits feeding of benzema hold up play

No official word but he broke his arm about a fortnight after Son IIRC, and like Son had it operated on. I would imagine he is pretty close to being fit.

Paul Clement said to The Star on 16th August that he was back training.

“It’s good to have Fernando back involved. We will see how quickly we can get him fit to play, but he will not be ready for United.

“Because of the nature of the injury to the arm, he lost a lot of upper-body bulk.

"He managed as well as possible to maintain his cardio fitness, but he is going to have to rebuild that upper-body strength which he wasn’t able to work on while the arm was fractured.”
