Against teams that sit back, he will be a very valuable asset

btw the double L in his last name is pronounced like in miLLIon (including the i). So it would be like LLIORENTE

Thought it was Your-entey.

Well that's how I've been saying it for 10 years.

I'll just stick with the David Pleat pronunciation "Lorraine."

Poch on Llorente:

Tell us about signing Fernando Llorente?
Of course Llorente, first of all he's a great professional. He's a world champion – he won the World Cup with Spain – and that is the mentality that can translate to us with the experience of winning big things. He's very professional. You know very well that he scored 15 goals for Swansea last season. I think his characteristics can fit very well with the team.

He breaks with your policy though of signing older players?
I think it's important, it's not easy to have the facility to sign players like Llorente. It was an amazing chance for us and I think he decided to sign for us, I think it's fantastic because he will bring very good experience and then that culture, to compete – because competing is different to playing, and winning is different to trying to win. He can translate that feeling that is so important for our squad.

When he pronounced it himself in his 'Come on you a spur' video it sounded like Yorente.

He's got a hint of a cult hero to be, about him.

Seems to be buzzing to be here which I'd always a bonus

Coming via Wales surely his name would have been pronounced Chlorentay just like Clanethly ?

I'm buzzing that he's here. I thought Swansea got a great deal when they signed him, and given his age and ability I think he's a perfect backup to Kane.

Unless he gets injured you can pretty much guarantee he'll score some important goals for us this season.

I've watched a few vids of him and one really obvious thing i've noticed is how strong he is in the challenge, especially when he's got his eye in for a shot on goal. In this clip, against United, he flattens two and doesn't even notice they're there, but his last minute moves into goal scoring positions and precision when he gets there are something quite special.

Yeah, yeah, I know you can make anyone a worldie on the 'tube, and a lot of the clips have him up against some atrocious defending, but the chips from 30 yards and his ability to take advantage of the shoddy defending gives me hope, considering we tend to over complicate shit sometimes when we play against the lower table sides.

More quotes from Poch in this but these bits stick out:

https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/po...pect-new-boy-fernando-llorente-213038155.html

“Maybe I can reveal one small thing,” said Mauricio Pochettino. “Hugo Lloris was with the national team and sent a text to me: ‘Gaffer, it’s true about Llorente?’

“I said ‘yes, we sign Llorente’. He said ‘wow, fantastic player’.

“That is the impact that he (Llorente) has on the changing room, because all the players respect him – and then they start to meet him, how he is. He is very warm, very friendly.

“It was fantastic. It’s a big impact for our changing room.

Ossie pronounces it the Argentine way. Spaniards do indeed pronounce it as we would the letter 'Y'.
