His name is Fernado Llorente
He's one hundred and twenty
He came from a home in South Wales
SWANSEA

When he walks down the street all the people he meet say oi mate are you ok?

Pretty excited about this. I wasn't at first but think he'll be great for us.

There isn't any downside to this transfer.
  • He's still a top class goalscorer,
  • he suits our system but also adds an option that we didn't really have with his arial threat,
  • he has experience of winnings things which will help all those around him,
  • he's stepping up in terms of club and competition so (especially at the tail end of his career) will understand that Kane is first choice,
  • he has lots of skill and brings great link up play,
  • we now won't have our hearts in mouths every time Kane gets hurt.
This could even help Janssen as it buys him time to develop without the pressure of having to fill a Kane shaped hole in the team, though admittedly that would assume Janssen's willingness to be a pure reserve for a season right before the world cup.

I hope that, having brought in Llorente, we add some earlier crossing into our game as this guy absolutely thrives of that. He scores from early crosses, he assists with knock downs. It could be the key to unlocking the Burnleys of this world a bit more easily when they come just to spoil and sit deep.

If they don't win tomorrow the Dutch are probably not going to the World Cup...

IMO, we should play Llorente from the start along with Harry. Get early goals and then when he tires, bring on Son or Vinny. I hate the idea that we only use Llorente as a supersub when we are in trouble, which we seem to be in a lot of early season games.

Not sure he suits our system? Being a threat in the air for a team that puts hardly any crosses in.
Good player not the right fit for us imo

From what I've seen, sweeping crosses into the box is a big part of Aurier's attacking game. Also gives Eriksen someone to aim at for corners and free kicks.

Exactly the player you want if you are chasing a goal, and putting lots of balls in the box...

At first I was a bit annoyed we where after him considering we need to get an AM for pace but the more I thought about this signing the better.

A proven goal scorer, good in the air, holds the ball up well, experienced. I think he could be very useful.

Do we ever put loads of crosses in even when we are chasing a game?
What happens if Kane gets injured? Do we change our whole style for him?

Can't really comment on aurier as I know little about him tbh but he will have to fit to our style and as I've said, putting crosses in from wide areas is not it.
Eriksens corners have nothing to do with our targets in the box, we already have a few very good headers of the ball

It's not about suddenly whipping in 100 crosses a game and making use of his aerial ability.

He's been signed because he's a focal point type of striker that Poch likes as his No.9 that can play up against the opposition defenders and link play and bring the rest of the attack into the game. Lambert did this job at Soton, Kane does this job (plus obviously has a lot more in his locker on top of that), Janssen they hoped would do that job (and maybe they still do...), and now Llorente who is very much in that mould.

His ability in the air adds a bit of variety and an extra attacking dimension, but I wouldn't expect some radical tactical change whenever he is on the pitch.

Walker used to make loads of crosses into the box.

Janssen probably wanted more crosses too
Janssen should have done more with the chances he got.

Llorente is a good option to have imo. Pochettino told Janssen he'll have his chances this year - so everyone gets an opportunity to show their quality.
