Crouch has a nice touch to be fair. Llorente has a lot more physicality to go with it though which is a big strength. Looking forward to Davies, eriksen and trips serving them up!
Crouch always had the comportment of a freakishly large spindly spider that had some how managed to conceal its excess legs

We're not talking about Crouchy here, Llorente has more in his locker than winning a header. He's got the ability to hold up the ball and has decent feet for a big man, the fact that he's top drawer in the air is a bonus. He certainly has more to offer than Janssen and provides cover for Kane and allows us to change shape with the possibility of Kane dropping deeper if a game necessitates it.

Love a cliche (y)

;)

The thing is, the game has changed.

You can't get away with wrestling two centre halves to get your head on a cross these days - defenders go down and the opposition get a free kick.

We started to see this more often during the time we had Peter Crouch up front; I can remember getting highly frustrated at times with us being put on the back foot because Crouchy was wrestling defenders for the ball and was contstantly getting pulled by the referee for it; particularly in European games.

Kane's more than capable of challenging in the air and actually wins a lot of duels but, as the game is these days, there's a higher probability of getting a chance on goal through finding a gap (as the goal against Arse illustrates) between defenders.

At the same time; Llorente is a fantastic signing, and some of the argument before this post IS correct; it will give us a different dimension as Llorente's game IS different to Kane's. I think we'll also see Kane utilised behind Llorente at times when Eriksen is being marked out of games.

I also forgot; Imagine how much Kane and Janssen are going to learn from this guy.

Kane hasn't really had a mentor at the club since Defoe left. Amazing really.

We bought llorente instead of a pacy wide forward? I was willing to give Janssen another season but instead we buy over 30 year old slow striker which doesn't make any sense to me at all..

Why assume it was "instead of"? I think it was clear from all the ITK that we were after a wide forward with pace, but for one reason or another it didn't come off.

So what's the point of keeping Janssen if we bought llorente. We don't need another target men striker.

Who isn't a pacy wide forward because we don't play with pacy wide forwards because we play with wing backs and not pacy wide forwards, people are now obsessed with he phrase pacy wide forwards to the point that pacy wide forwards doesnt mean anything.

Again, why do you assume that we intended to keep Janssen? As I understand it, he was about to head to Brighton, but decided to stay and fight for his place - and Poch likes that kind of fight in his players. Personally, I'm glad he's staying. Apart from the fact that players tend to perform much better in their second season, I've no doubt he'll pick up loads from Llorente in training.

Also, football transfers don't work the way they do on your Xbox. You can't always buy (or sell) whoever you want, whenever you want. Reality's a bummer like that.

Why have you just related two unrelated things?

It wasn't one or the other

As per itk it seems we were going for both and yes it's not ideal we didn't get both but I'd sure as hell rather get one game changing option then none
