I reckon he'll go from Poch's after match comments.

Tricky one from the club's prospective as we could get a sizable fee for him and he'll likely be on quite a wage.

In terms if he needs replacing I'm not sure. Son is a goal machine and we have goals that come from all over the pitch. He's still very much an asset.

Seems to be popular among the other players. I enjoyed the bit at the end of the game when he caught with Tj Eyoma and gave him a big hug congratulating on him making his debut. Hopefully today showed Poch that he should look to capitalize on Llorente's experience and give him more minutes. Considering we'll be without Son for awhile and we're not likely to purchase another FWD, it makes sense to bring him back into the fold.

That while he is very professional, he clearly wants to play and it is very difficult when you are behind one of the best strikers in the world. He is about to start talking to another club and we will see what happens.

Something like that anyway...

Weird to think he's scored two hattricks for us since Kane got his last for us ? HK needs to pick his game up ?

Would love him to stay. 3 top class finishes last night and some lovely link up play. Has been a model pro and deserves a lot more respect than he often gets in my opinion.

I think he's been worth every penny this season, and I really don't want us to sell him this January, particularly not as we are in four competitions and with Son leaving, Lamela's fitness questionable and Lucas currently struggling. I respect we may have to sell Dembele for the fee that could generate, but can't really see the point in letting go of Llorente - he was always brought in as a 'temporary' solution, to get rid for very limited resale value now just seems odd.

This season he's:
- Scored against West Ham in the CC (3-1 which helped us go through)
- Came on against PSV in that crucial home-tie, assisted Kane and helped us turn that around in the last 15 min.
- Basically not playing for a month, he came in for five minutes against Burnley. Immediately put in on a plate for Son who missed from close range, then distracted two players in a duel (and flicked it on?) before the ball fell for Dele, who set up the Eriksen goal.

And then yesterday.

Might not be our Plan B but he's been an excellent Plan C this season.

Problem is he is meant to be on £75k p/w by some estimates.

OK it would be hard for anyone to dislodge HK from his perch, but these days a player has to be able to play in more than one position to ensure he gets regular game time.
If Kane lost his Midas touch, he could play as a wide forward or attacking midfield, whereas llorente is more limited. We don't get good value from him if he is just on the bench.

Would the club buy a replacement? I can't see it, but if the saved wages could help keep Alderweireld and Eriksen from leaving, then that would be a sacrifice worth making.

Why does he need to be able to play other positions to be worth keeping? If he can get the ball in the net or help to do so he's doing his job 100%. Each one of his goals last night was sheer class from movement to finishing touch, and you don't get that for less than 75k per week. His transfer value will be negligible and he has a massive amount of experience we might want to call on this season. IMO we'd be nuts to sell him.

I kinda agree but selling in January when we are on four fronts is ridiculous. Llorente has certainly improved over time and is a handful particularly when using a plan B or C for example against Inter

It’s pretty ridiculous that we are discussing the merits of keeping Llorente on because he is on a fairly big wage, with no replacement coming in, and yet we’re still in four competitions and about to lose Son for 4/5 games!

Poch really is working minor miracles at our club

Still think he has a part to play for us this season. Had some good moments today, unluck with his left footed effort. You can tell he's missing that sharpness/confidence that comes from getting more than 10 minutes of game time in the league. We saw Kane hobbling off today and I hope he isn't seriously injured but the Fulham game would be a good opportunity for Llorente to lead the line and hopefully get some goals against a really poor team.

What bothers me the most about Llorente is that when he is on, I think he brings something, but we never get to see him for long enough to know whether that "something" actually could be reliable more often.
