Echo the thoughts. Quite often subs come on and you don't even notice that they are fresher than the starting players on the pitch. Not tonight - he immediately took people on and looked like a live wire with a blend of pace, movement and some trickery. Chased back very well on a few occasions also.

Passes the eye ball test immediately

1. Loved the fact that he tracked back and won a couple of key tackles.

2. It was 20 minutes. A lot of you are taking glimpses from those 20 minutes and imagining he's absolutely perfect. Like the gorgeous girl you fleetingly spot in the street, you superimpose all of your fantasies on her - you just haven't heard her fart in bed, seen her virulent case of chlamydia or found out that she's a gooner yet. I'm enthused but a lot of you need to comme des fuckdown.

With Son up top.

Making him the point man is counterintuitive. Son does best when he's playing a supporting role. It's where he finds the most space and can pick the ball up to run at players. Keep Janssen up top. He may not be scoring but he does hold the ball up.

Edit: Also, in a GKN thread, I'd like to say that this boy is looking somewhat promising. Didn't score or create so much, but used his pace and directness to add an extra dimension to the game. We certainly need that right now and lacked it last year.

Will probably come off the bench against City and get 10 or so minutes and thats okay. He'll have another 2 weeks or so after that game to focus on his fitness even more.

He put one a plate for Lamela's right foot, he's still learning so he won't make that mistake again.

I take it you mean GKN? I don't remember the chance, but I don't doubt it. He's direct and quick, he will create chances. Not sure if he's ready to start yet but he's great to bring on against tired legs. I think we've missed that since Lennon went past his peak.

Very promising tonight. He just looks a bit of a better fit for us than Njie was, straight away. More tricky and comfortable with the ball at his feet.

I was very impressed. Decent touch, pacy, tricky, but still kept the ball.

Players like GKN are usually thrown on to get a goal back so we were never going to see how effective he could be in that match as we weren't committing players forward.
However, he showed good discipline to focus on possession rather than trying to impress which means he probably has a brain as well.

A step change in quality over Njie.

Yeah I agree mate. A few times towards the final minutes he could have taken a man on. Instead to pulled the opposition towards him and slowed down play.

As a young player eager to impress he could have gone all out taken them on and given the ball away but he kept his head
