Does anyone think that Kane has spent a bit too much time in the gym?

He hasn’t moved as freely since the injury and he looks as muscly as ever, maybe he needs to lean down a bit?

Probably talking out my arse but he just looks so laboured.

He just looks wreaked he needs a rest, and more than 2 weeks. Sure he doesn't score in September anyway.... :sneaky:

I agree. I think he’s looked a bit too heavy and a little slower because of it. Could be completely wrong though obviously!

I serverely doubt it. I think it was just a combination of fatigue, and being kicked to pieces in the group games and Colombia, that set in by the QF. He was barely able to sprint, so there was some sort of injury he was hiding.

There were some quotes from him yesterday where he says physically he feels fine, he just needs the mental time to not think about football. So hopefully he will come back firing after a private time away with his family.

Along the same lines, I met Joe Cole on holiday a few years ago and tried to have a quick chat about football, (it was when he was at Villa and Sherwood was manager so I wanted to ask him a couple of questions) but before I even finished my second sentence talking about general football he said to me that he just wanted to switch off for a few weeks from the game. So I didn't mention football again unless he said something, we just talked about our kids. He was a nice guy and we spoke a bit whilst I was there. They just need the downtime, like we do on holiday away from work.

I think that's about right and you've heard it straight from a high profile pro there.

Kane seems more dedicated than the vast majority of footballers but he's not immune to fatigue. He's had a long season of football which has required complete focus. Now all the pressure is off again, he and a few others need some time to switch off from the game entirely for a short while before starting again.

Fingers crossed there are no niggles from our world cup players.

Can't find the original quotes, but thoughts from people on this from Kane, might need to click to read the whole thread...

Tbh I very much doubt he would come out and say he'd prefer two weeks in the Dominican Republic sipping cocktails and chuffing fat darts, I reckon he'll be given the first two games off

All depends on what his body is telling the fitness team - maybe they'll assess him before he goes and will set him up with a diet and light training program whilst on his holidays or advise him to take complete rest (given the amount of football, i'd imagine a fair bit of rest is needed).

They'll assess when he gets back and go from there. If he's in good shape he'll play but any residual fatigue will affect whether or how much he features in the opening game or two.

I'm sure he's social media savvy enough after goal-claim-gate to know that to say afterwards that he was injured or had a niggle would make it sound like excuse-making. There is no way in the world he was even 80% fit during the Croatia game.

I really, really, really shouldn't let myself get annoyed about shit like this but Paul Parker deserves a steaming hot dump in his mouth for this pile of shite:

ENGLAND’S BIGGEST LET-DOWN
Harry Kane. It’s easy to turn around and question the midfield, but great goalscorers make their own chances out of nothing. Ronaldo and Messi can. Kane can’t. Scoring from penalties and set-pieces wasn't good enough for a player who somehow won the Golden Boot. He was a massive let-down, barely involved in England's last three games, so we can forget talk about a move to Real Madrid.

Let's break down a couple of points...

Really? Is that so? You've never seen Kane create chances out of nothing? Not once? Nah - nobody has. He only scores tap-ins and penalties. Right, Paul?

Who helped us to reach those last three games, Paul?

Cheers for your insight, Paul. You're right, off the back of World Cup performances, clubs residing in distant galaxies will be battling through time and space in order to sign the amazing Lionel Messi. You know, because has can "make his own chances out of nothing."

I'm not bitter, Paul, but to say you're an oxygen-thieving excrement-excavator is an understatement of the highest order. Even my mum says she wouldn't go near you and she let Shane MacGowen hang out the back of her in the toilets of KFC, Luton. Twice.

I'd feel better about starting Kane and Vertonghen in week 1, if their national team coaches assured they would not be called up at the first international break.

But that seems unlikely given the League of Nations is already starting during that break...dumb scheduling so soon after the WC imo

Stop getting wound up by fans of other teams stirring about Kane. They’re only on the wind up, they don’t truly believe what they’re saying. I can’t believe so many people bite.

When expros do it is worse though. They should know better.

I still dont understand this nations league thing.

The basics are pretty simple. A 3rd international tournament played in non World Cup/ euro years. Consisting of 4 groups of 3 teams. Each team play each other home/away. Top of each group go into semi finals and final played early summer. Also the bottom team in each group gets relegated to a lower tier.
