I think Kane needs to be eased in and should be doing no more than 65 mins for next few games. We play excellently with a false nine as shown when we beat Chelsea at the bridge. When he is not fully fit it affects the team negatively in my view.

Hope he gets his sharpness back soon, it is a worry as even though he banging 30 league goals in last year, it’s a testiment to him that there were still concerns he wasn’t performing at his best!

He also faded a bit during the World Cup, although this could also be due to Southgate not playing enough to his strengths.

I think if we are winning games and comfortable, we should look to sub him when we have say two games in a week.

Agree, but Son is not around at the moment.

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet, but average positions for the squad last game. Eriksen the highest man isn't a recipe for success.

Shows how much Lucas & Kane had to drop in for the ball and why Lucas wasn't very effective, he needs to be much wider.

Interesting thanks. I think key stats will be distance covered and how many sprints he's doing. Well... aside from goals scored ?

Kane really needs to be staying up top more.

Like when dad called Salah a goal hanger during their match against the spammers! ???

Don't think i noticed Eriksen ahead of Kane and Moura in open play.

What i did notice was him running past Kane and Moura when Newcastle had possession to press, some times right up to the keeper, so maybe that's not indicative of our positions when we had possession.

That is interesting.

Sort of supports my own assumption when watching that is certainly looks like we're going for a 4-3-3, with Dier obviously the main holding midfielder and Sissoko box to box from the right, but what surprises me is that it seems like Eriksen predominantly playing off the left of the front 3 and Dele the same but on the central 3. I actually remember the commentator on the stream I was watching saying that it looked like Eriksen and Dele had a lot of freedom to rotate, with both players kind of interchanging positions depending on who was where during which phase of play.

Might be wort posting that in the tactical autopsy thread too if you haven't already.

The more games Kane plays since his injury (Spurs + England) the more worrying his general open play form becomes.
He seems incapable of chasing through balls and outmuscling defenders and driving on and getting shots away like he used to.
Not convinced it is because he needs a rest either.

Just heard a song where someone more lyrical than me would be able to adapt as new song for Harry Kane.

Hopefully You tube video below.

I've been wondering whether he hasn't been trying to bulk up too much and it's slowing him down too much. Either that or the baby is keeping him awake at night.

Or endless football in a demanding league over the last 3/4 years, coupled with very little rest and summer international tournaments and constantly returning early from repeated ankle injuries might be having a cumulative effect?

Kane is world class and therefore will always score goals, but there was always a danger his game could suffer due to the above factors at some point.

Agreed, but something isn't right. He doesn't seem as lithe and as quick to react as 18 months ago. Maybe he's just trying too hard. Whatever it is, I hope he sorts it out soon!

18 months is a stretch. He finished 2017 incredibly.

I think the injury in March and the subsequent rushed return has hampered him. Only to be expected given how much football he has played, and he generally plays full matches. This is why I think putting him straight back into the team without any real pre-season was a mistake in the opening game. Opponents will obviously target him and try and rough him up but Kane when in good physical condition can better them, but this is a Kane far from a good physical standing. We saw at the WC he was getting a battering from defenders and his influence gradually waned (for me this puts the theory that just playing him into form from the start as flawed). I wouldn't start him at Fulham. I'd back the other players who are far more physically prepared to get the game won, and allow Kane an easy 20-25 minutes or so to get some rhythm.
