Its pathetic to slate him after a few games, you think people would have learned after Gareth Bale. I remember reading constant remarks about him being championship level, better off selling him to forest whilst we can etc etc.

Fans like that don't deserve to support a team with good players. I think we are definitely they worst fans at supporting our own players. At times people talk about huddlestone like he killed their pet fish. Or Bassong like he raped their mother.

These players, regardless of how good they may or may not be, play for spurs. For as long as they appear on the pitch we should support them. Either that or piss off and support arsenal.

I get the feeling that he brings out the inner schoolyard bully in people. After his 2nd ever spurs match people were taking the piss out of how he talks, after his third ever spurs match people were taking the piss out of his appearance. If he was an Arsenal player i'd understand it, to do it to one of our own youth players is horrific.

I browse other teams forums regularly and we're probably the worst fans in England when it comes to supporting our youth players. The instant they turn out to not be the next Rooney they're slated constantly.

I suspect it's in large part a need to be proven right - most youth players don't make it, thus if you slag off every youth player you'll be proved right most of the time, thus people slag off every youth player. Not only is it massively unhelpful to the individuals concerned, it creates a really negative atmosphere for any of the other youth coming through. All so that fans can massage their own egos.

Exactly, when you consider that one of our best players was considered a flop at 25 and it wasn't until a year ago he was considered one of the best DM's in the league at the young age of 30 and even then most of the board didn't think he was good enough for the team because west ham were so bad they actually made him look good, not accepting he is brilliant

Some really crazy posts here. What if that header had gone in? He could have scored 2 more then it would be the opposite of how he is the new Shearer.

Calm down dears. He's only an 18 year old.

Cannot judge him yet. I think he shows great promise. A couple of great touches and a very brave diving header.

He was billed with a fair amount of hype and so far hasn't lived up to it.

Different players develop and peak at different times. Kane got a chance in the Europa this season and didn't look ready. Off the pace, heavy touch and didn't impose himself up-front.

I can't see him playing much of a part for us this season now we're out the CC and if we go out the Europa hopefully he can get a loan in League one or Championship and keep working hard on his game out of the spotlight.

Well said to the OP

I remember that when Bale started out with us in the begining, a lot of fans were writing him off as well. Back then, a few also argued that he was maybe only good enough for the Champioship !

Pathetic.

Not completely convinced he'll make a prem quality striker, but it is far too early to write the lad off. A season's loan in the Championship next year where he plays 30 odd games and then we can make a much fairer judgement. He wasn't great last night but could have scored a couple. Some of our other young players such as Livermore have acquitted themselves fairly well, but only after game time in the championship that they couldn't get initially at Spurs. Any vitriol last night should have been directed at 'international quality/i'm good enough for first team football' Corluka and Bassong who were pitiful last night and have played enough games for the club to deliver a better performance than they did. Not some lad who's a complete rookie

or not stupid seen him enough times league 1 at best

You mean league 1 at least, right? He's already proven himself a decent league 1 player, aged 17. The only way he could end up worse than his 17-year-old self is if we completely destroy his confid-

Oh wait.

You only have to look as far as Jake Livermore to see what patience can bring. At 22 he is only now getting games for the senior side. He wasn't really mentioned much at all prior to this season and went somewhat unnoticed. I don't think many would've anticipated him playing a role this season, but in the absence of Huddlestone, Palacios sold and Jenas on loan he finally got his chance.

I've been impressed with what i've seen of the lad (Livermore) so far, he works hard, holds people off well, just has a few floors to iron out (undertsandably). But I think he has handled himself well in Europe and didn't look too out of place at Old Trafford either. The trouble is I think people expect all players to break through early like Messi/Fabregas/Rooney when some players take longer at this level.

It's far too early to tell just how good Harry can become. It will come down largely to how we manage him. I think it will have done him the world of good to play him in these Europa League games. What he has shown for me is a good touch and good work rate. He has a good shot on him too but just needs to work on how he creates an opening for it.

If anything was learned from last night I think it was that he just lacks a little confidence stepping up at this level atm. In particular with his header at the far post where he didn't look convincing. In a reserve type environment he would've scored that no trouble. It was another big night for the lad though and there was pressure to get that win. I think we really need to build this kids confidence up in the next couple of seasons.

Personally I would loan him out after the Shamrock Rovers game (where he should start again). He needs to go away now and score some goals in League one, then maybe the Championship so he can come back full of confidence and swagger.

I thought he played well, got himself in great positions and was sorry when he went off for jose dominguez. Shame he couldn't get one in but he basically won a penalty... again. He's a handful and he's only 17. He just needs the first one to trickle over the line and he'll be away.

All the haters can lick the salt from my ring. Bunch of sociopathic idiots. I'm ashamed to be associated with other spurs fans sometimes.

Thought Harry looked the only player last night remotely like scoring, but as he is more a schemer than an athlete I reckon he could be a late developer. Use him in NextGen this season, then a season or two on loan, then if he is starting to break through a couple more seasons as a squad player, before he is expected to step up and start laying claim to a regular first team shirt. Time is very much on his side; at 18 he has another three years before he needs to justify a place in the 25 man official squad.

Missed the game last night, seems like I am glad I did.

Was the first team players couldn't give a shit, whilst the youngsters did their best.

But the youngsters are getting all the shit for the first team players not stepping up to the plate and doing what they get paid sick amount of monies for?

I personally like HK and think he could have a good future. In all the games I have seen him in (not last night), the service to him has been proper shite and non-existent.

Agree too early to say how hes going to turn out. Seems to remind me of Lee Barnard who banged in goals left right centre for the stiffs then did nothing in the small amount of time he had in the 1st team and then was gone. Harry seems to bang in a few for the friendly games so hopefully as a few have said he will go out on loan and prove a few doubters wrong.

Nothing alike in terms of playing style mind; and Harry is much younger than Barnard when he scored all those goals in the stiffs. And Barnard actually looked pretty decent in his brief first team excursions - gave Vidic a torrid time as I recall.

Kane is rated by the club. He is the main reason we didn't go fully in for Wickham in the summer.

I reckon the club knows more than the average punter, or at least I'd hope so...
